Title of book?
Inside the Asylum
What inspired your book?
I was staring at a wooden wall, making up shapes out of the grain's swirls that no one else would see the same way if they looked at it. That inspired me to write the first poem in "Inside the Asylum," which starts off "Patterns on a wall, patterns where there are none. Patterns in my head, patterns where there are none."Reading it back made me wonder what kind of person would think like that (I often write poetry from someone else's point of view). The rest of the story flowed from there. I wrote all of Emma's poems first and went back to add the doctor's notes and various paperwork for clarity.- Laine
Who inspires you most when it comes to writing?
(Blank)
What do you like to read/write the most?
My first love is fantasy, but I'm a sucker for some good poetry too. I've been writing poetry since I was 8 (it was all terrible; I actually used the word "inspirated" in one of them, lol), and one of my most treasured books is a little classic poetry anthology I was given when I was 12. The beauty and poignancy of a well-written line is something that rattles around in my head like nothing else can.- Laine
How do you feel about winning?
I'm blown away. Inside the Asylum's format is so alien to Wattpad that I usually don't expect it to do well in awards. I'm so grateful that the judges took the time to get to know it and connect with it.- Laine
Will you be entering in The Fallen Angel Awards 2019?
If I'm allowed, of course!
