After a long time the crazy man-Percy- had managed to persuade my mother to let him take me to his training camp. Mum insisted upon coming with us, and we took her old beaten up Ford.

Mum drove, Percy rode shotgun, and I sat in the middle seat in the back so that I could still talk to them.

"So why is a crazy goddess going to kill me then?" I asked Percy when we sat down in the car and buckled our seatbelts, "why does she have such a problem with Apollo having a kid? Actually, can we start with who even is Apollo and why do you think he's my dad?"

"Apollo is the god of the sun, archery, poetry, healing, prophecy, music and lots of other things. He's one of the Olympians, which means he's a pretty important god," said Percy, "just over twenty years ago he got married to a demigod named Ariadne, she was the gifted immortality, and after a whole load of things happened she became the goddess of night. When Apollo married Ariadne, he swore to her that he wouldn't have any more demigod children, and for the last twenty years, he kept his promise, which is pretty impressive for Apollo because he has always had a lot of kids. Anyway, if Ariadne finds out about you then she's going to be very angry, and she has a tenancy to take her anger out on people by accident."

"Why in god's name do you think I'm Apollo's kid then if he promised-"

"Gods aren't very good at keeping their promises," Percy told me, "satyrs can smell godly energy, that's how they help us find demigods. The satyr that found you is a particularly powerful one, his name is Grover, he said that your scent smells just like that of the children of Apollo."

"This is crazy!" I complained, "Mum you can't really be believing any of this!"

"You have Dyslexia right?" Percy asked, "and ADHD? Those are both signs that you're a demigod, your brain is wired for ancient Greek, not English and your ADHD is just your natural battle instincts."

"This must be a dream," I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, "Mum this is a dream right."

"I don't think so sweetie," she replied as she weaved in and out of traffic, "I think that the crazy man is telling the truth."

"It's ridiculous!" I shook my head.

"You know, that's exactly what I thought," Percy mused, "I was a bit younger than you when I found out about all of this, but I didn't believe it either. But you should believe one thing, you're going to love Camp Half-blood."

"But if you're taking me to a camp where there are loads of demigods, won't it be even easier for the crazy goddess to find me?"

"It will also be much easier for you to be protected from the crazy goddess," Percy explained, "she was once mortal. There are people who are still mortal who she cares about, and many of them are at Camp."

"If she's really super crazy, why will she care about killing a few mortals?"

"Because she knows what it's like to die, and I doubt that she would wish that upon anyone."

I was filling up a water glass in the sink and it just smashed in my hand... gave me a bloody heart attack!
