With the new generation of demigods under the fierce protection of Ariadne and Caius, they were able to live a somewhat normal life.
The big bad monsters of the ancient world seemed to have taken a rest from terrorising this generation, or perhaps they were all too terrified after what happened to Nyx and none of them wanted to fade out of existence.
S.T and I were sat on the end of the jetty with our feet dangling into the water, S.T was busy trying to persuade me to stay as a year-round camper.
"You'll never have to go to school again!" S.T argued.
I didn't want to argue too hard against that point, but I didn't like the idea of leaving my Mum all alone indefinitely. I was undecided of whether to stay at camp or not and I wanted to hear my mum's opinion before making any more decisions.
Someone cleared their throat behind us and we turned to see Caius, my father standing behind us. I hadn't really spoken to him since our first meeting, most of my interactions with my new godly family had been with Ri.
"I'll give you guys some space," S.T jumped to her feet and walked away, leaving space beside me, which Caius took.
I stared at my toes dangling in the water.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"Sorry for what?"
"For being just like all of the other gods, for pretending that you don't exist..." he trailed off.
"That's okay, Ri told me how awful you are at human contact."
"I would find that offensive if it weren't true."
I didn't respond.
"You know I really did love your mother."
"She loved you too."
"I'll do better. From now on I'm going to be a father to you like I should've been all along."
It's over! I'm sad! This is the second book that I have completed today and I feel very accomplished :)
This may be goodbye to Livy and Caius for now, but unfortunately for you, it's not goodbye to Apollo and Ri. I am writing a series of short stories titled 'The God', which will pick up Apollo and Ri's story directly after their wedding in the prologue of The Daughter of Night. It will be told entirely from Apollo's point of view, and we will discover how he fell in love with a lowly demigod such as Ri.
