 *Liam's POV*

"I dare you to.... go up to that couple and tell them to get a room!" Zayn laughed at his idea while pointing to a couple making out in a corner of a wave pool.

"Fine. I will!" Louis stated, and walked over to the corner.

"GET A ROOM YOU CARROTS!!!" Louis practically yelled in their faces. The guy turned around and slapped him.

Louis came back over to us and sulked. Zayn was practically in hysterics, as were Harry and Niall.

They continued giving Kirstie and Louis their dares, but I kind of zoned out. I couldn't stop thinking of Layla. Her wavy, light blonde hair that fell perfectly on her shoulders and down her back, the way her eyes sparkled when she looked at me, and her perfect round lips- the lips that almost kissed me.

Why didn't she kiss me? I mean, I could tell she was a fan- it was pretty obvious. So therefore, I knew she didn't dislike me. Plus, if she didn't like me she would've pushed me away sooner, and she wouldn't have stared into my eyes for so long. We were so close- but then she just gasped and quickly walked away. What stopped her? Then it hit me.I bet she has a boyfriend! I mean, she's so pretty and nice, why wouldn't she have one? That must be it! She must have just got caught up in the moment, and then fealt bad and walked away, not wanting to be a cheater. That had to be it. What else could it be?

"LIAM!!!!" Harry yelled, waving his hand in my face. "Huh? What?" I said. Smart.

"It's your turn to ask someone," Niall told me.

"Oh, ok. Um, Layla! Truth or dare?" I say.

Harry nudged me and raised his eyebrows, smirking. I stepped on his foot underwater.

"OW!!" He shouted. "What's wrong?" Louis asked from across the circle. I shot Harry a 'tell them and i'll step on your foot again' look.

"I, uh, I stubbed my toe," Harry said, still wincing.

"On what? we're in a pool," Louis reminded him.

"Um, the ground?" Harry more asked than answered.

Louis looked skeptical, but he let it go.

"Truth," Layla said, everyone's attention turning back to me.

Perfect. "Do you have a boyfriend?" I said, trying not to sound suspicious, as the guys (apart from Harry) didn't realize I liked her.

She turned really pale. "I, um, I have to go to the bathroom," she said, and ran out of the pool, grabbing her bag on the way. I started running after her. "Wait! Layla!" I yelled. Then I heard a girl scream.

"OH MY GOD IT'S LIAM PAYNE!!!!!" Screames erupted everywhere. Before I knew it, Louis was grabbing my hand, dragging me in the opposite direction as Layla had ran. We grabbed our stuff off the lounge chairs and started running away from the fans, who were now chasing us. And the mob was getting bigger by the second.

"I need to go back to Layla!" I heard Kirstie yell over the screaming.

"Wait! Kirstie! Can I have Layla's phone number? Please? I need to apologize to her and ask her what's wrong! Do you have any idea?"

"Not a clue," She replied. "But you can have her number."

She quickly ducked behind a tree and we took out our phones. I added Layla's number in.

"Make sure she has her phone on later," I say.

"You got it. It was really nice meeting you guys by the way!" Kirstie said and smiled.

"It was nice meeting you too." I said back to her. We put our phones back in our bags and got ready to run.

"Oh and Kirstie!"

"Yes?"

"Thanks."

With that, we stepped out from behind the tree and began running our seperate ways.

*Layla's POV*

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

My face paled. I needed to get out of there. "I, um, I have to go to the bathroom." I ran out of the pool and grabbed my bag. I heard Liam yelling behind me "Wait! Layla!" but I kept on running. I couldn't face him. I couldn't tell him about Will. I know I can trust him, but I just don't think I can handle talking about it. I'd never actually talked to anybody about it. My mom knew it was a shark accident, as did my friends. But no one really knew the entire story, how it happened, how it fealt to watch the love of my life die before my eyes.

I ducked inside the bathrooms and cried. Suddenly I just wanted to talk to Liam, to tell him everything. Though he probably didn't want to listen to my problems, he probably wouldn't even care. I realized just how much I needed to talk to someone, but there was no one I could talk to. I didn't want to talk to my mom about it, and my friends were great, but they wouldn't understand. Normally I would talk to Amber, but we had drifted over the years, and I didn't want to ruin this week with my problems.

I heard screams erupt from outside. I knew that someone had just realized One Direction were here. They were probably running right now, I bet Liam wasn't even thinking of me. I'd probably never see him again. Which really sucks, considering I can't get that moment out of my head. The way the world disappeared when I looked into his eyes.

Just then I got a text from Kirstie.

They're gone now. Meet me at the wave pool. xx

So I was right. Liam did leave me. I wiped up my tears and grabbed my bag, stepping out of the bathroom. I walked over to Kirstie. "It's almost five, our moms are probly ready to leave now," she said. I could tell she wanted to know what had happened, but she also knew not to bring it up. I was glad she didn't, I didn't want our moms asking questions as to why I looked upset. We texted our moms to meet us at the car. When they got there, they asked if we had fun. Of course we said yes.

Kirstie and I were silent after that. We listened to One Direction music all the way home.

*Amber's POV*

It was almost 5:30, and I hadn't gotton a single text from Layla all day. What the heck. Oh well, they were probably on their way home now, and she could tell me all about it. I decided to bring Will up later, when we were alone. I heard a key turn and the door open downstairs.

"Amber, we're home!" My mom yelled. "We are going to make some dinner for you guys!"

Layla and Kirstie came up the stairs, Layla had both earbuds in, probably listening to One Direction. She sort of waved at me, but I could tell her thoughts were in the distance. She went in her room and shut the door. I would have asked if Layla and Kirstie got in a fight, but the odd thing was, she looked really happy. Like she was kind of sad, but still really happy. Confusing. Just then Kirstie came up to me, super giddy and excited.

"Amber, you will never beleive what happened!"

"Hmm? What?" I pulled out my phone to text Cece again.

"We met One Direction!"

I dropped my phone and stared at her. My heart sank to the ground. I had just missed my chance. My one chance at meeting One Direction. That must have been why I had that weird feeling.

What. The. Flack.

A/N- So hey guys, I decided to make Layla a bit more important to the story, at first she was just going to be a friend, but she's going to be an important character now, sorry about the change! Oh, and also, sorry that this chapter is super short! Love you all! xx
