No More Second Chances

Chapter 9

5 Years Later

*Amber's POV*

I sat with my songwriting notebook in front of me, alone in the recording room. I'm 20 now, and it is my final year of college in New York. I am studying music, and I just got offered a job with a record producer. No, I can't sing- at all. But in my college years one of my teachers discovered I have a real talent for writing music, so my job is writing music for actual singers. Currently, I am sitting in the studio, trying to think of something to write, as I need a new song by the end of the week. It is wednesday and I have nothing.

All I can think about is One Direction. Ever since that day they've never left my head. Even though I've tried, second chances really are hard to acheive. I am really busy with college and my new job, plus the fact that I don't have enough money to buy backstage passes to all their concerts and stay at their hotels and stuff. But I still am not going to give up.

Layla is still my best friend, and she is taking a college course in California, studying to be a veterinarian. I never ended up getting hooked up with One Direction through her, even though she said she and Liam were boyfriend/girlfriend. I have a lot of other college friends, but I am still single. Guess I'm relying on that second chance a lot more than I thought. However, I will mention there is a super cute, nice guy named Jake, and he happens to be a part of my large circle of friends.

So that's basically all that's happened in the past few years. Oh wait, I forgot some VERY major details. Did I happen to mention that ALL the members of One Direction are now taken? Louis found an amazing, beautiful girl named Eleanor, and they had a wedding about five months ago. Liam got Louis and Eleanor's permission to twitcam the after party, so of course I watched that. Along with about 3 million other Directioners.

Harry and Zayn are both happily dating members of the same band, Little Mix. Zayn is dating a lovely blonde named Perrie, and Harry is dating a Spunky redhead named Jesy. I must admit that both those girls are perfect for them- they are practically exploding with swag. They all started dating about two years ago, around the time I started college. I'm pretty sure they won't be breaking up anytime soon.

Niall found a gorgeous dancer named Danielle, and they announced their engagement last month, but haven't held a wedding yet.

*A/N- I know Danielle is very happy with Liam, and they are perfect together. But I love her so much, and I wanted to include her in the story, and since Liam has Layla, I put her with Niall. Also, Harry needed a girl, so I figured it would be cool if he was dating a different member of Little Mix. I love all their girlfriends very much, just letting you know!*

And of course, Liam has Layla.

Don't get me wrong, I love all their girlfriends and they are perfect together, I'm just really mad at myself, because that could have been me. That day Layla met them, they were all single. And she ended up with one of them. That meant there were likely chances that, had I been there, I would have ended up with one of the other four. But I didn't. Just then I got a text.

From: Jake

Hey are you free tonight? :)

Yep, what were you thinking?

I was thinking maybe you would go out to dinner with me? ;)

I blushed a little.

Like, just us? :)

Yeah ;)

Meet you outside your apartment at 7? We can walk to that diner down the street, the on you are always begging all of us to go to? :)
