"Kenzie! Can you hear me? Kenzie!" I heard a familiar voice but I wasn't conscious enough to know what was going on.
I felt someone pick me up and then start running right away. The pain that traveled throughout my body was indescribable. My back, head, and stomach all ached with every step that the person took. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes to see Riley carrying me, running in a panic. He was out of breath but wouldn't slow down.
"Kenzie! I'm here. I got you."
I didn't respond. I couldn't. I closed my eyes and just tried to ignore the pain. I knew it wasn't good. I had never been knocked out like that before. It seemed each encounter with Luke got worse and worse. After a few minutes I didn't hear anything again. I was completely out of it, didn't hear or see anything.
Riley's POV:
I was in a panic from the moment I saw her laying there on the ground unconscious. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know who to go to. The first person that came to mind was Dyanna. I called her off of Kenzie's phone and told her it was urgent as soon as I found Kenzie. I didn't give any details besides to be at her place in 10 minutes. I hung up, picked up Kenzie, and ran as fast as I could. If I was there with her this wouldn't have happened. She would have been okay. Why did I let her go ahead of me especially with the text that Luke had sent her earlier? I felt so stupid.
I got to Dyanna's house to find the front door open and no cars in the driveway. Good, it was just Dyanna there. I walked up the steps as Dyanna met me at the door to open it up.
"Oh my god. What the hell happened to her?! Kenzie! Are you okay?! Oh my god. Come in, now."
I followed her inside and upstairs to her bedroom. I set her down on Dyanna's bed gently. Dyanna went to get stuff to clean her up. Kenzie looked so helpless. She didn't deserve this. She's such a sweet, caring, and down to earth girl. Why would anyone want to do this to her?
"Kenzie, can you hear me?" I ask softly as I pushed her hair out of her face. She groaned a little but didn't respond otherwise.
Dyanna came back with a first aid kit and a wet cloth. I dabbed Kenzie's face softly with the wet cloth to clean it up some. She was bruised and covered in blood all over. I just wish I could take her away from the pain. That's all I wanted to do. As I rubbed her face, Dyanna lifted her shirt some to cover up some of the marks that were caused from Luke. My best guess is he kicked her repeatedly.
I looked over at Dyanna. She was teary eyed seeing her best friend like that. Once we cleaned Kenzie up I told her what happened. I told her about Luke, how I first met Kenzie, about the text earlier, everything about this whole messed up situation. She was shocked. I mean anyone would be. The way Kenzie told me how he had everyone fooled of course no one knew.
"So that explains it..." Dyanna mumbled under her breath.
"Explains what?" I asked in confusion.
"She stayed over here the other night and when she woke up I saw that she had a black eye. She said she must have slept on her rings so they caused it. I knew something was up though. I am so happy you found her today. It could have been way worse."
