I held Mark's hand as he sat down on the arm of the chair next to me. He rubbed his eyes and sighed, before looking at Cry and Felix. They blinked expectantly at him, practically holding their breath.
"We're about to be very busy. The Coven is sending reinforcements. Partially for the war. And for a trial as to why I hadn't come forward earlier. Felix, you have to go and keep tabs on the Hunters. Cry, you should probably scrounge up blood as well as human food. Meat included. My house is going to be full. Which brings me to my next point. The Witches, or at least most of them aren't on the Hunters' side. The Eastern Seaboard is very much a danger zone. Fair warning. There will be plenty of vampires, wolves, witches, and many sympathizers. Some of which that aren't aware of their partner's extraordinary, aspects."
"Kinda like we were Mark."
"Kind of, but they have no idea anything supernatural exists. Which brings me to another point. There has been an offer by a group of witches for an HQ. We have to start setting up there as soon as possible. Meaning tomorrow. So, if I was you, I'd spend some quality time together. We're gonna be busy for who knows how long and then who knows if we're even gonna be alive."
Felix paled and I stared at Mark. He had a dark look on his face, and he was thinking. He gripped my hand tighter. Like it was some sort of life raft. Would he turn me without my consent? I shook my head. I had to stop thinking about that. He ran a hand through his hair.
"Sorry. It's been a long day. My filter is out the window."
Mark tugged on my hand and pulled me towards the bedroom. Once there he closed the door and spun me to his chest. He nuzzled his face into my hair and just stood there. He mumbled something into my hair and I pulled away from him questioningly.
"They want you to come to the meeting tomorrow."
I nodded. He sighed and kissed me on the cheek, pulling me close again. He kissed down my jaw before pulling away slightly.
"I don't want to lose you. I'm worried about what they're going to say."
"I'm not worried about it. There isn't anything that they can do that'll get me away from you."
Unless they kill me. I'm pretty sure Mark was thinking the same thing. He had that dark look back on his face, and I cupped his cheek in my hand. He leaned into my hand and closed his eyes. He placed his hand over mine and sighed deeply.
"You should get some sleep. I love you."
He let go of my hand and turned to leave. I stood there shocked as he opened my door. I grabbed his wrist.
"Mark? Can you promise me something?"
He nodded and I took a deep breath.
"Promise you won't turn me without my okay?"
I let go of his wrist and he glanced at me. He opened his mouth and closed it again. He sighed and walked away without an answer.
~
I couldn't promise him. The desperation on his face made me hate myself for it. I wanted to. I wanted to tell him I'd do whatever he wanted. But, I couldn't lose him. I wanted this war to go away. I popped the top off one of the vials and tipped the contents down my throat. I rolled my eyes and rubbed a hand over my face. I love him. I shook my head and walked around the coffee table to get the remote. I paused as I heard a knock on the door. It was almost one am. There shouldn't be anyone here, even from the Coven. They knocked again and I moved towards the front door. There was a peephole so I could see who was on the other side. There was a tall boy, with black hair, sterling blue eyes, and pale white skin. He looked lost. I messed up my hair, so it looked like I climbed out of bed, and opened the door.
"Can I help you kid?"
His eyes shot to my face and he pushed past me. I made a sound of protest. He looked around then shrugged off his hoodie. He dropped it on the floor and turned to face me. He scanned me up and down before turning away mumbling toward the kitchen. I grabbed his shoulder and the next thing I knew he had flipped me over his shoulder.
"Relax Mark. The Coven sent me."
I shot up and knit my eyebrows together. If the Coven sent him he was either a vampire or a lying hunter. He was British, which didn't mean much. He could have either been sent like Jack or he hurried to get here. He sorted through Jack's cupboards looking for something. He closed them angrily and opened the fridge. He pulled out a Dr. Pepper and looked at the back of it.
"Do you know if this is anything like a Ribena?"
I shook my head and he shrugged, opening it.
"Who are you? Do you even know what time it is?!"
"No actually, I don't. I'm still on London time. I'm Phil."
"Ohkay. And what are you doing?"
"They said you knew we were coming. I was actually looking for cereal, but there is none. Anyways I have to go in like twenty minutes. I left my boyfriend in a hotel room after waking him up. We need to talk. Quickly."
I nodded and recapped what when on in the meeting with the Coven. Every once in a while he'd stop me and ask questions, nodding along the way. A half an hour went by with hardly any notice.
"You literally look like a stereotypical vampire by the way. Pale, dark hair, et cetra. Speaking of, you are one right? I mean I figured but..."
He nodded and we just sat there for a minute. He cleared his throat and stood up, then stretched and stooped to pick up his hoodie. Phil's phone buzzed and he groaned not even looking at it.
"That's Dan. I gotta go. I'll swing by later. He, uh, doesn't know about this by the way."
"Not a problem. I gotta ask though, your eyes?"
He grinned and turned to leave. He glanced back, with a black-eyed smirk, and walked out the door.
"See ya, Mark."
~
I groaned and covered my face with a pillow. I heard a chuckle from beside me.
"Don't tempt me to suffocate you, Mark."
I moved the pillow and saw Jack smiling at me. I smiled back breifly.
"What time is it?"
"It's about seven in the morning. You came to bed super late."
I nodded and ran my fingers over his cheek. We smiled at each other before mine fell. I was thinking about last night.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay. It was a selfish, loaded promise. I shouldn't have asked. I've had some weird dreams lately and I guess they freaked me out."
I sat up and kissed him quickly on the lips. He made a surprised sound, then kissed me again. He tangled his fingers at the back of my head. There was a sharp knock on the door and we broke apart abruptly.
"Put your dicks back in your pants guys. There are people asking for you."

Hey! New chapter! This one's a longer one! It might be a few months before the next chapter, unfortunately. But! I'll try as hard as I can to get the new parts out. School started up again for me, ew. I'm already failing classes and it's only been a month. *insert sarcastic yay*. And I'm dealing with a lot of shit. So, I'll be back at some point. Hopefully soon.
