Today is the day we are going to see my parents and Brad's parents.
Derek and Anne have organised a dinner for all of us to go to so we can all be together - since we haven't been together properly since the wedding. Also, my parents haven't met Jake yet, so this will be their chance to.

I didn't get much sleep last night since it was Jake's first night at home, but Brad did help and get up some of the time Jake started crying - however, it was mostly me getting up.

That's one thing I don't miss about having a newborn - the constant crying. I know they can't communicate because they're babies, but the amount of sleep I'm going to lose isn't going to be fun.

Lily, bless her heart, always offers to help when I'm stressing around. She can't really do much, but she does little things like making sure her room is tidy and other little things like that.
She did ask to share a room with Jake before he was born, but Brad and I said no because of the crying and waking up during the night. She was sad, but I told her that when he's grown up a bit more she can share a room - if she still wants to.

"Mama?" Lily lifted her head up from her pillow and looked at me while I stood at her bedroom door.
Brad and I are already ready, so we just have to get Lily and Jake ready now.

"Come on, we have to get you ready!" I said, walking over to her and sitting on the edge of her bed.
Lily groaned and put her head back on her pillow again. I sighed, knowing this will be difficult if she doesn't work with me.

"What do you want to wear today?" I ask her, strolling towards her little wardrobe and looking at her clothes.

This girl has a hell of a lot of clothes.

Lily didn't answer me, so I just pulled out a denim set of dungarees and a plain white top with some white frilly socks and a pair of pink converse.

"Come on!" I said again, plonking the clothes on her bed and placing her shoes on the floor. Lily day up and lazily brushed her hair from her face. She rubbed her eyes and yawned before getting out of her bed.

After I had Lily in her clothes and shoes, I followed her to the bathroom where she brushed her teeth. I helped her step on to the stool so she could reach the sink. While she did that I softly brushed her hair so I wouldn't hurt her.

I grabbed two bobbles from the cupboard above the sink that both had black and white polka dot bows on them and placed them on my wrist before parting Lily's hair into two sections.

I put the bobbles in her hair and made sure the bows were facing up so they could be seen. I smiled at mine and Lily's reflection in the mirror. Lily began to smile too.

"Mads! You ready?" Brad shouted from our bedroom. He must have finished getting Jake ready.
I was going to answer, but Lily beat me to it.

"We're ready!" Lily screamed back. I giggled to myself quietly hearing Brad laughing from the other room.
