Brad
Stress.
Stress and frustration is all I've been feeling for the past two weeks.
With my new job, it's taken up hours of my days I could - should - be spending with Maddie and the kids. Don't get me wrong, having even more money than before coming in is great - but I just wish the working hours could be different. However, that's not something I can change. It is what it is.
I just got back from work, the darkness from the dark blue sky made the street lights appear brighter - almost blinding me when I look up.
I step into the house and get confused as to why Lily hasn't coming running to me - which is something she always does.
Also, there's no crying or whining. Just pure silence.I walk into the living room to see Maddie sitting with the tv on quietly and a notebook and pen in her hands.
"Hey." I greeted her, chucking my coat over the arm of the couch. I sit beside her and try to see what she's writing.
"Hey." Maddie replied. She saw me trying to look at what she wrote - she giggled and moved the notebook closer to her chest so I can't see.
"Oh, come on! Let me see!" I whined at her, trying to get her to give in to me.
"You can't see it." Maddie said, holding the notebook tight.
Maddie
"Yet." I added on, seeing Brad's eyebrows raise.
"Yet?" Brad questioned, shuffling closer to me. I giggled and hid the notebook behind me and chucking the pen onto the coffee table.
"Ugh, fine." Brad gave up, knowing I wouldn't.
"Where's Lily and Jake?" Brad gently tucked some of my hair behind my ear and held my cheek in his soft hand.
"Lily is with Shawn and Em. Lily wanted a sleepover with Lena. Jake is with my parents, they said they want to look after him for a night." I replied to Brad and let go of the notebook that was behind my back.
Brad must have noticed, so he decided to snake his arm around my waist and grab the notebook from where I hid it.I gasped and leapt forward, straddling him. I stretch my arm in hopes to retrieve my notebook but Brad's arms are longer than mine. He is taller than me, so I have no chance.
I sat back, sitting on his lap while he slowly brought down the notebook. He opened it, his eyes going from me to the words I had written on to the pages.
It was a short while before Brad had looked back up from the small book and averted his gaze to me. I kept my gaze away from him and waited until he said something.
"Mads.." Brad spoke quietly. His voice almost a whisper.
I felt my cheeks heating up like mad. My whole body feels like jelly - I feel nervous, but why? It's only Brad.. the person I trust most.
I eventually look up to see his angelic face. His eyes were slightly wider than normal, his mouth was shaped into a small smile and his hair flopped over one side of his face.
