Kauna scrabbled madly for a tree root or a ledge to hold onto to. She head Jackson yell abover her and squeezed her eyes shut tight, waiting for the impact.but then she felt someone holding onto her, and she touched the ground lightly, shaking from head to toe.
"are you okay?" Kauna looked up to see a girl, about nineteen, looking at her worriedly. Kauna felt a strange sense of recognition at the voice, but shook it off.
She cleared her throat
"I, yeah, I'm fine, but how did you catch me?" Kauna said, her voice still shaky.
The girl smiled, and held out her hand
"you know, with my arms?"
She said and Kauna narrowed her eyes, but didn't question the girl further. She could hear Jackson crashing through the bush a short distance away and realised how worried her brother would be. "sorry, I have to go, but it was nice to meet you." Kauna said, curteseying, as she had been taught at school. But once board her head, she saw another clump of purple flowers under her feet. Forgetting about etiquette for the stranger, Kauna squealed in delight and sank to her knees and cupping the little flowers in her hands, examining them closely.
"are you alright?" the girl frowned a little, and Kauna nodded.
"yes, sorry, it's just these flowers-"
"are magic. I heard you telling your brother." she said, and Kauna immediately felt defensive. "they are, I'm not making it up!" she exclaimed and the older brunette cocked her head slightly.
"I believe you. I saw it too" she said smiling and Kauna looked back at the little flower.
"Kauna!" she heard a voice shout from the distance above.
"I'm okay!" she yelled back and there was a pause.
"were coming down, just wait there." Nina called out. The other girl frowned up at the figure, staring daggers at her.
"yeah, I don't like her either" Kauna said, already liking this girl.

Jacksons stomach lurched as he watched his sister fall, his arm reached out and he sped forwards but he couldn't reach her in time.
"shit! No, no no no. Kauna? KAUNA!" he yelled, grabbing onto a tree and leaning over the ledge. Kaunas screams had stopped and she was standing on the floor, seemingly unharmed.
"Kauna!" he called out
"I'm okay!" he heard her reply and sighed with relief, before running over to get down the steep ledge.
He heard Nina behind him but barely listened, rushing to get to his sister. He jumped over rocks, around trees, almost tripping several times.

"I'm Kauna." she said to the girl who smiled again. She had a nice smile, Kauna thought. She was pretty as well. She had windblown brown hair, and sparkling eyes.
She should marry Jackson. Kauna thought to herself. Her clothes were faded, she was wearing a billowing white dress shirt under a thick white corset, dark leather breeches, and a black riding hood and boots. She also had a strange white quartz crystal tied around her neck with a leather cord.
"I'm Taylor." she said, just then, Jackson hurtled out of the bush and wrapped Kauna in a hug.
"oh, thank god, Kauna be careful!" Kauna squirmed out of his embrace, looking for Taylor, who had backed into a tree staring at Jackson.
Jackson followed Kaunas gaze and stopped, staring back at the girl across from him.

I held my breath as he caught my gaze. I hadn't seen him for so long, and he looked the same, but older. There was faint stubble over his jaw, and his hair was longer, but he was still Jackson. He studied my face, but there was no recognition in his eyes. Not like his sister. She too was older, didn't look the same at all. Her breeches were too small, hair dark brown hair woven into a braid straight down her back.
"I..." Jackson drifted off, still staring. I felt uncomfortable. The last time I had seen him, he was full of hatred. What did I get myself into?
"I'm Taylor." I said, holding my hand, hoping and dreading that he would also recognise me. He didn't.
"Jackson." he told me, shaking my hand. I quickly pulled my hand away.
You cannot still like this guy!
"slow down Jackson she said she was fine!" Nina came down huffing and I glared at her. Why was she here?
Nina saw Kauna and looked like she also was going to go in for a hug but I cleared my throat, drawing her attention to me.
"oh, who's that?" Nina said to Jackson, who still hadn't taken his eyes off me. Nina scowled and held onto his arm possessively. I felt a spark jump in my clenched fist and saw Kauna's eyes widen, and she smiled wider.
"this is Taylor, she saved me! I told you." she said to her brother smugly.
"you did?" Jackson and I clenched my fist harder, glancing back at Nina to avoid his gaze.
"yes." I said, as thunder rumbled above me. I looked up to see the cloud had gotten darker.
"you should go, it's going to rain." I told them and turned away, but Kauna ran forward and held onto my hand
"you should come too!" Kauna said excitedly and I shook my head. Watching Nina and Jackson was the last thing I wanted to do.
"I'll be alright." I said but Jackson agreed with his sister.
"it looks like it'll be a bad storm, you really shouldn't be here
alone." he said to me and I dropped my eyes.
"alright, I'll come too." I said and Kauna beamed at me. Nina wasn't very happy, which brought me some joy, and I bit back a smile. She glared at me and pulled Jackson back to the forest where he had crashed out from a few minutes ago. I looked back to Kauna shook was also seemingly unhappy about Nina.
"you should marry Jackson" she told me and I snorted a laugh. Maybe she hadn't changed as much as I thought.
