Her breathing is even as her eyes scan outwards into the open. They've set up camp in the province where they were amidst a rolling meadow of healthy grass with only specks of trees here and there. Not enough foliage to hide behind, admittedly, but obvious enough so they wouldn't be suspected in the first place, especially when the nearby farmhouses have already been ransacked and destroyed by visiting Death Eaters from previous.
One can only imagine how rigorous the process is, scouting for the next location. Everything needs to be taken into consideration and planned out in meticulous detail. For example: where the nearest source of water is, where to set traps, the best vantage points, the easiest routes for escape. When your entire world is a warzone, your game plans are only as good as the environment you submit yourselves to.
"Do you ever think we're like pawns of some twisted videogame?" She snaps her head towards Dean's voice. "Like it doesn't even matter what we do here because, well, it's up to the bloody twit who's playing with us, ain't it? One move from the other side and that's it – you're gone. End of your life."
Dread instantaneously blooms within her as the thought of not having any more moves to make burrows itself into her brain.
What happens when we hit game over?
All the hiding and the fighting, all the curing and the burying, has exhausted her of many things. Most things she has learned to live without, like the simple bliss of a hot shower or a home-cooked meal where the ingredients aren't stolen, but it was a day she would never forget when her optimism had finally given up.
"Have you accepted it, then?" She asks. Dean scoffs as he rolls his eyes, his body standing perfectly still.
"I haven't even accepted the fact that I've been utterly in love with Seamus since First Year and I've been sharing a room with the bloke ever since. What honestly makes you think I've accepted my own death even after staring down at it for two fucking years?"
