"You told me there would be no side effects. Well, what the hell do you call this, huh?"

||\  Alice Melbourne  /||

Alice had been born with paraplegia, a permanent disability that meant she was paralysed from the waist down. As a result she had never been able to walk or crawl, let alone interact properly with the other children. She grew up with one friend and she lost him when she was seventeen because the cancer had finally wormed its way into every cell of his body.

She lived with her parents, who had always been there for her, smothering her, making sure she had everything she needed. But when she was twenty five and had had enough. She moved out, despite their protests, and got an apartment of her own. Her mother still checked in on her every day, but at least Alice was independent.

She got a job as a middle school teacher. It was difficult, but she loved it and most of the students seemed to love her. They were all perfectly happy to fetch things off the shelves for her and help her out of her chair and back into it. It was a perfect environment and it made her happy. Of course, not as happy as if she could walk, but it was the best she could get out of her life.

It was ten years later, when she was thirty five, that a man approached her. He said his name was Darren Cross and that he could fix her legs. It was an experimental programme, but he promised her there would be no side effects.

She was brought into Cross Technologies a week later. Someone pushed her wheelchair for her and she was taken to a lab full of equipment she didn't understand, strapped to an operation table and put under anaesthesia. Once again she was promised there would be no side effects when she asked.

And when she woke up she felt her legs for the first time in her life.

The scientists told her it would take awhile for her to get used to walking, and they were right. Her legs were weak and she still had to use her wheelchair most of the day. But her legs were improving quickly, she could walk. She could run a little. She was more happy than she had ever been in her life.

That all ended the moment the first side effects showed.

➖|➖character quotes:

"You told me there would be no side effects. Well, what the hell do you call this, huh?Alice

"All my life I've wanted to walk and now I finally can... and I have to give it up or I'll die. It's not fair, Hope. It's not fair that all this crap happened to me."Alice

➖|➖plot information:

Alice is quite capable of looking after herself, she's got very strong arms and she can go to the toilet by herself and all that.

She's very good with children. She lets them sit on her lap and she reads them stories. They all like her a lot. She originally applied to be an primary school teacher, but they declined her because they thought she wouldn't be able to help the little kids properly if there was a proper emergency.

She can either teach Art or Music. I like the idea of her teaching Art because I could see her messing around with the kids and letting the more annoying childish ones paint her face and stuff. And I like the idea of her teaching Music because she could play piano and teach them little tunes and it would be fun.

The side effects give her the ability to absorb energy, but in doing so she is slowly being poisoned and she ends up getting these terrible headaches and her vision fills with these really bright colours. Sometimes she can pass out because of it.

When she first realises she can absorb energy she goes straight back to Cross Technologies and they check that she's okay. They tell her she'll be fine and she goes home.

When she first gets a severe headache she goes back to Cross Technologies, but they refuse to help her and there's nothing she can do about it.

This should be when Hope and her really meet because Hope would want to help her. So, as Alice is storming out of the building Hope will walk up beside her and take her by the arm, telling her to walk quickly and not look back.

But before this point Hope and Alice won't have interacted. Alice could have caught a glimpse of Hope, but they won't have talked or even really acknowledged each other. So that's at least 8/10 chapters before they actually meet. I know it's long, but you have to cover quite a bit beforehand.

I want some chapters of her teaching and interacting with her students because I really love the image of her being all motherly and kind to them. And it'll help people understand her character more.

The book is about trying to save Alice because she's being poisoned by whatever they did to her to let her walk. The process is accelerated whenever she uses the power it gave her. At the end of the book Alice will have to give up her ability to walk in order to survive. She'll cry when she realises and for a second she'll even consider just not doing it, but in the end she'll let Hope undo whatever was done to her.

The romance will be quite slow so don't have them making out within five chapters of knowing each other. Give it time. The best romance happens slowly.

As for what happens in the story, I'll leave that up to you, but I've given you the basic outline and please consult me if you want to change something.

Lol, I actually have a plot with a moral to it. Be grateful with what you've got.

I will write this plot if I don't find someone to write it.
