||==SYNOPSIS==||
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me is the biggest lie I've ever heard."
===
Harper Pierce knew the biggest lie in the world was a phrase her parents had repeated to her every time she had come home from school with a new story of being verbally bullied by the other students. And how did she know that? Because she was reading the missing persons report of Peter Parker, who had been gone for over two weeks.
She knew that if he was missing then it meant the worst, especially with what had happened on the day of his disappearance; half of the population turning to dust and floating away. Harper was lucky she had no one left to care about that could have turned to dust. It was just her. Her and her uncle, but he scared her so she avoided him.
She had met Peter two years ago when they got locked in the same supplies room at school. He had been put there by the football team, but she was there because earlier that year five girls had decided she would make an acceptable target for their bullying. Harper and Peter had sat in the closet for hours, sweaty, nervous, and brimming over with social anxiety.
But finally one of them managed to break the ice and the friendship had formed from there. Simple, happy memories. Studying together, building lego (even though Harper said it was for children), going to watch movies, having dinner. If you hadn't known better you would have looked at them and said they were dating, and they were, in a fashion, although neither of then realised it.
Then a startling revelation had come and Harper found out that her best friend was Spider Man, but she didn't mind. She worried, yes, but she didn't think it was her place to stop him. Now she wished she had.
Then came the fight with the Vulture and Harper stepped up to help her friend because she was scared he'd die if he went in alone. He didn't want her to come and he was right not to, but she did. There was no stopping her when she set her mind on something.
In the final showdown she had found them where the plane crashed and she had tried to help, but the Vulture had knocked her sideways and into a pile of debris and broken luggage. Whatever it was Tony Stark had been working on it did something to her, although she didn't realise it until days later.
Now she's searching for any signs of her best friend, desperate to find him. She just wants him back.
