*ahem*

I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT I HAD A THING ABOUT JENSEN ACKLES SINGING THIS WHEN WE ALREADY KNOW HOW RICHARD ARMITAGE SOUNDS WHILE SINGING BECAUSE OF THE HOBBIT

Anyways....

Also, don't read this with other people in the room. You might cry. There's a nice ending, though. Don't forget about the song. Important to the chapter.

Sypha tossed and turned in her sleep. Her eyebrows furrowed together, her mouth something between a pout and a scowl. She whimpered in her sleep, eyes darting back and forth under her eyelids.

Vampires were terrorizing the town in her mind. Everything was playing out as it did back then. Every last detail, just as it had when she was but an adolescent.

"Sweetheart, I know you've been studying your magic hard but please do this favor for me and go hide. Let your mother and the other adult Speakers do the fighting. Please, do this for me."

Sypha was terrified. Her mother looked terrified and she could see the tears welling up in her eyes. She nodded and gave her mother a tight hug. She felt a kiss on her forehead before watching her mother go into the other room.

'I need to head down to th-'

Suddenly Sypha's thoughts were interrupted, as she heard glass shattering. There was a hiss, and the sound of furniture breaking and ice flying. Sypha haphazardly hid herself in the kitchen closet, keeping the two doors open just a crack. About half the width of a finger.

Sypha began to hyperventilate in her sleep, which woke Trevor up. He knew immediately what was going on, and slid over closer to her in the bed, wrapping his arms around her tightly. She was trembling.

She pressed her hand against her mouth to keep from screaming. There was a sickening slashing noise, and blood splattered all across the wall across from the room her mother was in. When Sypha opened her eyes, she regretted it immediately. Her mother was literally torn in half.

The vampire held what was left above his head and drank whatever poured out greedily. Sypha felt as if she were going to puke. She realized tears were pouring down her face and she couldn't contain herself anymore.

The vampire looked at her through the crack of the doors and smiled menacingly, repeating her name over and over. That voice. It sounded familiar.

Suddenly, Sypha felt arms wrapped around her and she was being shaken. She could hear Trevor's voice, and jolted upright in bed. Her face and eyes were flushed, still wet from crying in her sleep. She looked around quickly, her eyes wide until she saw the man she loved.

"It's just a dream, Syph...it's okay." He sat up with her and once again embraced her tightly as she cried into her chest.

"You're safe now...shh...it's okay hun...want to hear that song again?"

She whimpered and nodded, her face buried against his chest as they hugged. He laid back down on the bed with her as she curled up against him. She couldn't hear most of it due to her own whimpering and shock on account of being so frightened, but she soon calmed and listened to his voice and the rest of the song.

"These are the lies and the lives of the taken
These are their hearts but their hearts don't beat like ours
They burn 'cause they are all afraid
When mine beats twice as hard"

Sypha smiled while a few tears streamed down her face, this time not exactly from happiness, but an odd sense of relief. The way one typically does after having their heart touched in order to quell any emotional strife. She nuzzled her forehead against his chest and hugged him tighter, not sniffling as much as she was earlier anymore.

" 'Cause the world is ugly
But you're beautiful to me
Are you thinking of me
Like I'm thinking of you
I would say I'm sorry, though
Though I really need to go
I just wanted you to know
That the world is ugly
But you're beautiful to me
Are you thinking of me?

Stop your crying, helpless feeling
Dry your eyes and start believing
There's one thing they'll never take from you."

Trevor kissed the top of Sypha's head and smiled when he realized she had fallen asleep.

Poor thing must be exhausted, he thought.

He drew the large comforter over them further, and blew out the candle once more. Hopefully now she would have a more peaceful rest.

"I love you, Syph," he mumbled as he drifted back to sleep.
