“And if you’re starting to miss me…remember, I didn’t walk away. You let me go.”
The words of Dara last night resonated loudly inside his head for the millionth time today. An unexplainable feeling pricked his chest as he was reminded of Dara’s conversation with a man called Seunghyun. The way she laughed, the way she stuttered, the way her shy tone escaped her lips—it frustrates him…agitating him even and yet he doesn’t know why.
“Jiyong-ah! Are you even listening to me?” Sohee said irritatingly as she put down the fork in her hand. He immediately looked up and realizes that he’s out and still having lunch with Sohee. “You’re just playing with your food.”
“I’m sorry. I was just thinking about things—business.”
“It’d better be business, Ji and not your ex-wife.” Another surge of unexplainable feeling washed over him as the word ‘ex-wife’ escaped Sohee’s lips. The way she stares at him now doesn’t help the annoyance rising in his blood. He slammed his hands on the table loudly, making Sohee shriek a bit in surprise.
“Her name is Dara and not ex-wife. This will be the last time you’re calling her like that. Do you understand?”
“W-wha…” she tried to say something but immediately decided to close her lips upon feeling the anger emanating from Jiyong.
After a minute or two of silence, Jiyong finally stood up, placed a bill on the table and headed quickly out of the door. He never looked back and left Sohee on her own.
“No…Jiyong…no!” she said to no one, slamming down her hands on the table. “You can’t go back to her. You don’t love her anymore. No! Don’t you ever dare, Jiyong.”
