Sofia the First: Big Brother

Chapter 14: Darkness Nears...

Just then Ethan heard a voice from behind him, he turned around and saw a rabbit on the bed, it was Sofia's best friend Clover. Sofia introduced him to her big brother "You can talk???" Ethan Asked all confused, "Well, sure!" Smiled Clover "I have a mouth don't i? I never knew ma princess had a big brother! where've you been all this time?". "It seems my chain allows me to speak with animals" Smiled Ethan "Just like your Amulet", "I wonder what else it can do?" Sofia Smiled back. "We are like the same, except i had no childhood..." Ethan Replied quietly, Sofia knew deep down that her big brother had a very troubling and dark past but she wasn't giving up healing him so easily. "Please, stop thinking bad thoughts" She Frowned "I know deep down that you've seen some horrible things, but you can't keep living like this!", "Alright..." Groaned Ethan "I'll try" and he managed to form a smile which made Sofia do the same. "Hey, you ok big guy?" Asked Clover, "Yes..." came the rather quiet reply, "He's had a very troubling past" Said Sofia "But now that he's finally returned, I'm helping him move on from it", "Then I'll leave you two to your own buisness" Smiled Clover "I know where I'm not needed" and he left through his rabbit hole. Ethan looked down at the floor "I want my old life back... I wonder what it would of been like, had me and father's never left...", "I don't know" Replied Sofia "But if it handn't of happend then we would of never met the King, James and Amber and we would have never come together as a new family-" "And i would never be in this current state..." Interupted Ethan. "I-I-I'm sorry..." He Apologised "There are just... so many things wrong with me", "That's why we're working on them" Smiled Sofia "I know, let's change the subject!", "Please do" Said Ethan "So... any idea on what happens on the day of my Debut Ball?", "Well, its actually called a Royal Debut, every royal family in the Ever Realm and plenty of VIP's and guests will be there to meet you, there's a massive ball planned for afterwards AND some of the most talented musicians in the whole Ever Realm will be performing before your arrival!" Smiled Sofia. "Sounds great" Smiled Ethan "I would say I can't wait, but I CAN wait because we have to eliminate the CURRENT problem first", "Right" Replied Sofia "But we have to be quick about it... actually scratch that! Cedric and the other Royal Wizards already have that covered remember?" her big brother gave a big long sigh "They think they have... I'm trying not to be negative, really I am", "Just take things slowly" Replied his little sister "It took a LONG time for me to get used to my new life, being a princess and all". "Understandable" Said Ethan "But, I'm no... Prince, just a long lost warrior of some kind", "Shhhhh... it's okay" Soothed Sofia "Just... keep calm, stay positive, and relax". Ethan started to feel sleepy upon hearing his little sister's calm, gentle and soothing voice, and he finally began to relax.

Sofia then began to sing very gently and quietly so her big brother would relax further, "The voice... of an angel" Smiled Ethan feeling tired "My little sister... has been blessed". "Awwww..." Blushed Sofia "You're so sweet!", "Says the one with the baby face" Ethan Smirked in return which made her giggle herself silly. Eventually, Sofia herself began to feel sleepy and she laid down beside her big brother, she felt for his hand and when she found it, it opened up. She then placed her's on top of his open palm and it closed. Ethan opened his eyes and looked at her, "Don't worry, everything's going to be just fine" She Smiled, "I hope so..." Ethan yawned, Finally, they fell fast asleep.

Morning came once again, the sun was shining, the birds were tweeting, everything was perfectly normal. Sofia was already awake and like all other younger siblings, she tried to wake her older brother up "Time to get up big brother!" She Whispered, Ethan goaned in exhaustion but managed to open his eyes "Good morning little miss adorable" He Smiled playfully with his eyes half closed. Sofia giggled, Ethan just chuckled but then noticed something, he wasn't wearing a top "Don't look!" He Exclaimed as he pulled the bed sheet over his torso, "What's wrong!?" Asked Sofia with shock, "I'm not wearing anything on my top half! i need you to turn away for me while i put something on". Sofia was curious but did as he asked "I'll go and get dressed" She Replied and she walked over and entered her wardrobe, closing the doors behind her. Like the previous morning, Ethan got dressed into the same outfit, his traditional black outfit and red overcoat.

Sofia then emerged from her wardrobe wearing a pretty pink dress and her hair tied up in a ponytail.

Ethan gazed in awe "My, you look beautiful!", "Thanks" Smiled Sofia and she gave him a twirl "I wore this for my Graduation". "I'd wear something different to, but i'd prefer to keep my coat on so i don't attract any... unwanted attention". "If you say so..." Replied a concerned Sofia, "You see... when i went out for that stroll after me and King Roland had that argument, the people of the village didn't seem to reconize me because my coat was buttoned up, therefore it covered my main royal attire so no one knew i was of Royalty". "But if the guards can't tell if your a Royal then they might not let you enter the castle" Frowned Sofia, "That... is a risk i'm willing to take, I cannot allow anyone to reviel my identity in front of the public, Chernabog might be watching... or listening.". Sofia knew that Ethan was nervous about being around a large crowd, but she saw mere days ago that at the same time was not afraid to confront whatever was hunting him. "Alright..." She Replied nervously, Ethan neeled down to her level "Don't worry about me, i think for today i'll acompany you for the day so i can get more familier with the NEW Enchancia". Sofia loved the sound of that "I can't wait! let's go!" She Smiled her biggest smile, "Alright! Alright!" Ethan Chuckled "But let's go and have breakfast first".
