{I'll be writing in first person from now on cuz it's easier}
We walked in silence all the way to an abandoned factory. Inside was ramps and skating supplies. Obviously more than one person was behind this. I have to admit, it was a little cool, and I felt butterflies in my stomach, thinking that maybe we would get in trouble if we were seen. I'm not the bad boy type, I don't rebel. I watched as Mathias dragged a skateboard out from under a bench.
- Here, have you ever been skating before? he asked me.
- No...
- Wanna try?
- Is that really an option now? I asked looking at him.
- Nope! He said with a grin and signed for me to follow him.
We walked over to an empty spot and Mathias put the skateboard on the ground.
- Want me to show you first? Mathias asked and looked at me while stepping on the board.
- Ok. I said. He then started kicking from the ground and going forward. I knew how to skate, just not any tricks and stuff. I watched him as he showed off some cool tricks, then he rolled over to me and stepped off the board.
- Your turn, he said and shoved the board gently towards me. I looked down at the little board. I asked myself what the hell I'm doing here, but thinking I could get closer to Sophia by getting along with her brother drove me to try.
I stepped on the board with my right foot, then slowely tried rolling, but I lost balance and almost tripped, but before I could hit the ground, Mathias caught me. His grip around my waist was firm and warm.
- Wow! Calm down there cowboy! He smiled. I blushed, a little embarrassed.
- Let's take it slowly, Mathias said and placed the skateboard in front of me again.
- First, try to focus on your balance, he said calmly. I stood on the board while Mathias held my arm so I wouldn't fall.
For a minute, it was actually a little fun. Going slow and steady up and down ramps.
- Wanna try going on your own?
- Uuuh, I dont know if thats a good idea...
- Come on, just try slowly, Mathias smiled at me and it felt like we were old friends or something. So I put my foot on the board and slowly slid across the room. I nailed a soft right turn.
- Hey! You're doing it! He said cheering me on. I had never thought skating would be this much fun. Then the board started to head down a ramp and I had no idea how to stop.
- Uuuh, how do I stop this thing?
- Try foot braking.
- What the hell does that mean???
- Oh right, forgot you were a noob for a second. Then I slid down the ramp and suddenly got a lot of more speed than I wanted, and I fell backwards on my ass.
- OUCH! You ok?! Mathias shouted, and I managed to let out a small groan of pain. He ran over to me and helped me up.
- Sorry, should've taught you how to stop first.
- Yeah, well, my butt is broken, so I'll just sit down.
- Ok, wanna watch me?
- Sure, maybe I'll learn something.
I sat down at a bench and watched as Mathias did tricks on ramps and other things I didn't know what to call.
- Watch this, I'm gonna do a board pop, he said and when he went down a low ramp, he did a cool trick.
- Cool! I exclaimed. I never thought skating would be this fun.
- Wanna get something to eat? Mathias asked and I said yes. While we walked I listened to Mathias' talk about board tricks and stuff. His voice was oddly relaxing and soft. Maybe he wasn't such a douch after all.
We went to the popular diner in town to get some snacks.
As soon as we sat down I got eye contact with some..."bad news"...
Robin, Connor and Brian, all three was sitting at their own table chatting normaly, until they saw me. They immediately got up from their seats and waltzed over to us. I tried covering my face with a brochure, but the damage had already been done.
- Yo, if it isn't Miss Carmen! they teased. Ever since I started in the same class as them and the teacher had called me "miss" just because she thought it was a girls name it was stuck and Robin knew it was annoying. Then they glanced up at Mathias.
- Who the hell are you? Mathias didn't answer, he just stared at them with narrow eyes.
- Finally got yourself a boyfriend, ey? Faggot!
- Why don't you just get lost, ey? Mathias made fun of the way Robin spoke, but he didn't look faced.
Hey! You should be careful around him, he's hella gay! Robin said pointing at me. I felt like I was going to throw up. He was being way too loud. Some people were staring. I tried hiding my face again.
- Get lost retard. Mathias said obviously mad, but keeping it cool. Then Robin turned to him with a death stare.
- What did ya say?!
- I said: Get Lost! He said as he stood up, now staring into Robins soul. Mathias is like two feet taller than them. The three just stood there for a second, then started backing off out of the diner. Mathias sat down and smiled at him.
- Just pretend that never happened, he said then a waiter came to our table to take our orders.
We got our food and started eating in complete silence...
I'm so glad there were people around us talking and sounds that didn't make it too awkward.
- So, who were those guys back there? Mathias asked.
- Oh, uh, just-just some guys from my school...
- Why did they target you?
- Well, I'm easy to push around, but they don't just bully me, they are assholes to anyone.
- Are they the ones who beat you up today? I simply nodded. I felt like a coward, no, I am a coward!
- Do you let them beat you a lot?
- Hehe, actually, Sophia used to interfere and stand up for me, but she's been a bit busy, so...heh, I'm such a pussy...
- Nah, you're not, you just don't know how to defend yourself. But it's ok, cuz you have a secret weapon. Mathias said.
- Secret weapon?
- Yeah, me! I'm gonna teach you how to defend yourself! He said without even looking at me.
I just stared at him gaping. Was he serious? I just met him like yesterday and now he's acting like we're best friends or something? I only wanted to learn about what kinds of dudes Sophia liked.
- Uuuh, you realize I'm not really the muscular type?
- Of course! Which is why I'll help you build some! Now he sounded excited.
- I'm sorry, but I'm not about to spend my days working out just because of some stupid bullies-
- You know, Sophia really likes guys with muscels!
And that's how I ended up home with a "date" with Mathias the next day at the gym...
Yeah....
