The move

"Honestly Kallie, I know you're awake." I heard a distant voice rumble, "GET UP BEFORE I PULL YOU OUT OF THIS CAR!" the same familiar voice bellowed, bringing me out of my perverted dreams once again.

"I'm up," I sat up rubbing my eyes, my voice cracking slightly from lack of use, "I'm up."

A car door slamming announced Karter's exit and foul mood, and I was left once again to my thoughts. Squinting my eyes, allowing them to adjust to the glare, I took in my new surroundings.

Glare forgotten, my eyes widened a fraction everytime I took in a new aspect of a very unfamiliar, expensive looking house. My hand finding the door handle, pulled it and opened the door. My sneaker clad feet stepped out and my body followed, shock written all over my face.

In front of me stood a very modern looking house. An elegant paved walkway, lined with expensive looking shrubs led up to a small step up, introduced the front door. Letting my eyes wander further, I realized that on either side of the door were large, floor to ceiling windows which held on one side, what looked like the living and dinning room, while the other held the kitchen. Considering I didn't have the ability to see through walls, my eyes had to settle for the exterior of the upstairs, which I assumed held the bedrooms.

"Wow." I whispered, my voice laced with shock. Where the hell did he get the money from to afford a place like this, I wondered.

Karter looked up from the front door, where he was busy instructing the movers, a smile hovering on his lips. Realizing that my shocked face had dropped to an icy glare, and not to one of excitement, he excused himself, hands shoved into his jeans pockets and head down slightly.

"What the hell is going on? You took me to look at an apartment, on the second floor of the building, not some expensive house that we CAN'T afford." I hissed, my voice rising at the end, my hands clenched at my sides as he approached me.

"It's part of my job Kallie bear..."

"Job? You," I said pointing at him, my eyebrows raised, "have a job?"

"Yeah, all of this was supposed to be a surprise. Hence why I was so distant. I figured you'd assume I was spending my nights out with girls, but I was really hooking up with people over here trying to find the right connections, and thankfully I did."

"We're a twin, Karter. You're supposed to tell me everything that goes on with you." I whispered, my eyes  glistening with unshed tears.

"Look, we can stand out here in the hot sun all day fussing over who didn't tell who what, or," he paused, looking down at me with a disapproving glare, "we can be grown up about this and just be thankful we have somewhere to live and that I atleast have some sort of income to keep us stable until you can get a job to contribute to the finances."

Scuffing my shoes on the pavement, I bit my lip and looked down, realizing I was being ungrateful of his efforts to surprise me.

"Hey no tears Kal, you know I hate when you cry." He murmured, pulling me in for a much needed hug. All the while, movers came and went, moving between the truck and the house taking furniture and boxes in as they went. My eyes went into slits, my grey eyes glittering in the sunlight - something looked off about the movers logo.

Snapping fingers in front of my face however brought me out of my suspicious thoughts, "Earth to Kallie."

"I'm sorry, just waking up to this wasn't something I expected." I muttered, frowning at how rude I'd been.

"Uh, uh, uh, no apologies. Come on, let me show you our new home." he said, grabbing my hand and leading me up the pathway towards the front door.
