Music played loud, echoing off of the walls of the large living room as people danced together."Yeah, people! Get down!" Tony's loud voice shouted over the crowd and lyrics, laughing drunkenly getting around the dancing bodies with a bright smile. He had thrown a New Years Eve party and begged every one of the Avengers to be there, and so per request, they had shown up.

"Great party, my iron friend!" Thor boomed over to the boogieing genius a smile of his own as he threw around a large cup filled with who knows what. Nudging the dark headed male beside him that looked less than pleased to be there. "Don't you agree, brother?" His question causing Loki to roll his eyes and cross his arms.

Shaking his head, the god of mischief growled in defeat, "this is the most ridiculous gathering I have ever attended in my entire life." His grumbling was hardly heard over the blaring speakers and Tony ignored him anyway as he ran to the door screaming out to the blonde who walked through the door.

"He-eeey! Now it's a party everyone! Lady Liberty makes an appearance!" He shouted aloud as he trotted over to meet Steve at the entryway, throwing his arm over the taller man's shoulders, leaning against him.

Steve smiled slightly, patting Tony on the back awkwardly, "have a bit to drink, did ya?" He chuckled at his drunken friend and shifted him away with a shake of his head. "I only came because you begged me to, Tony, or else I wouldn't be here." The blonde explained, walking over to the bar to grab a drink, ignoring the women's pleading glances.

These sort of events always made him so uncomfortable, the music was always too loud, too modern, and the women always made his so awkward. Should he dance with them? Shouldn't he? Would he be rude if he didn't? Would it be too forward to ask? It was all so confusing to him, especially after being 'out of the game for so long'- as Tony had put it. Sighing as he sipped at his cold glass, Steve glanced at the melting ice, chuckling to himself when he heard Thor shout praises at the music and the girls dancing around him. "Just the place for you, huh, pal?" The soldier said to himself, leaning his side against the bar and looking over to the all blonde god.

It wasn't too soon after he'd arrived that Steve began to grow bored and guilt-ridden- after haven turned so many women away when they asked for a dance- that he tried to make his way to find Tony. However, he quickly found him when the billionaire stepped up on the small platform stage and grabbed a mic. "And now, a song specially picked out for my dear old man. This one's for you Spangles! Get your groove on, man!" He cheered as the music began to start out slow then lead into an old tune.

Steve's eyes narrowed as the song started to make it's way around the room, the old sound filling the air and giving the party an extremely vintage feel to it, especially ones Tony had dropped a disco ball and it's lights flickered throughout the place. Releasing slight tension in his shoulders and sighing in exasperation, Steve put his face in his hands. Tony was then directly beside the blonde, throwing his arm over his shoulder again, "you're gonna stay, right?" His voice loud beside Steve as he shouted at him, almost unnecessarily.

The old soldier looked over at his friend with a less than pleased expression but was met with a puppy dog stare and groaned, "fine, I'll stay a little longer. But only a little bit, Stark!" Steve yelled after him as his friend fist bumped the air and began to dance away. Growling at his need to please people even at his own detriment, the blonde turned around to walk back to the bar, but on his way was struck dead in his tracks. His blue eyes had caught the sight of a (h/c) woman making her way through the entryway, at her own pace, looking around the atmosphere of the party. The expression she wore was fresh and intriguing as if she were actually interested in the party but not use to attending them. Her (e/c) eyes scanned the people as a warm smile graced her soft features, Steve felt his heart skip a few beats.

"Holy moly.." he muttered under his breath, cheeks tinging a deep red color. In the most un-stalkerish way he could, Steve's eyes watched her wander through the crowd, noting how confident she was in just being herself, not necessarily blending in with the mass group of girls that were already at the party."She's so..beautiful.."

Glancing around, a thought came to his mind, 'Tony must know who this is..it is his party" and immediately went on to search for the playboy. Once he found him, Steve scanned the large moving group of people to find her once again, "hey, hey, Stark," he slapped at Tony's arm, trying desperately to get his attention.

"For the love of God, Old Glory, what is it?" Tony's expression was less than pleased, haven been interrupted from his flirting session.

Steve glanced toward Tony only for a millisecond then locked onto the woman he'd been tracing for a few minutes, "her, what's her name?" Steve pointed toward the (h/c) woman chatting up Loki now, laughing and enjoying herself.

Tony squinted through the smoky atmosphere, a bright shine from the disco ball glaring in his eye every once in a while. Finally, he hovered his hand over his eyes like a visor, following Steve's finger, laughing when he saw who he was referring to. "Ah, yeah, (y/n). She's cool, she use to work at the tower when it was just 'Stark Tower' but I moved her to one of my other main facilities after we changed it." He explained to his friend, waving off the story, then catching on to Steve's hard staring. Cocking a brow, the billion placed his hand on his hip, tipping his glass in the blonde's direction, "hey there 30-year-old virgin, you thinking about getting laid tonight?" He teased with a wink, sipping the drink now.

Steve flushed a deep red again, all the way up to his ears, his eyes never wavering from watching her. 'That doesn't sound half bad right now ..' he thought to himself.

Tony shrugged and looked toward the subject of Steve's sudden interest, "go for it, Cap. I'd say she's your type. Nice, polite, bit of a goody-goody, I think you two will get along. Who knows, maybe she's a freak and will finally turn you into a normal man." He laughed and patted his friend in the back.

Steve just side-eyed the dark headed man beside him, "ha ha, Stark." He forced and rolled his eyes.

"All I'm saying is, she's talking to Antlers, and he literally tried to destroy New York. You shouldn't be nervous." And with that, Tony left Steve's side to party some more.

Steve took in Tony's words and nodded, taking in a deep breath, "I shouldn't be nervous, shouldn't be nervous." He repeated to himself, squeezing his eyes shut to gain some confidence. Finally moving his feet, the super soldier made his way through the crowd repeating the words of his friend in his head again. "Not nervous, no nerves, you're not nervous. I'm not nervous. Not me. You can do this." He explained to himself quietly then realized, before he knew it, that he was standing before her. His heart accelerated and it was nearly the only thing he could hear in his ears. Blue eyes made contact with (e/c) ones and he cleared his throat. "Hey there," he greeted softly, smiling as best he could to hide his nerves.
Tony lied to him. He was nervous.
Nervous as hell.
Then she smiled back at him kindly, eyes sparkling brightly, "hi, it's so wonderful to finally meet the  Captain America." Her voice was like a soothing rain, washing away all his anxiety. She sounded gentle, laid back, but joyful. His heart felt full of excitement now at the prospect of getting to know her, reaching out to her outstretched hand, Steve took it and brought it to his lips. Placing a gentle kiss to her knuckles, the blonde man smiled even warmer at her. Gauging her reaction and noting that she was nowhere near as shy as he felt, spurring on his confidence.

"Steve, it's just...Steve." He told her with a tenderness in his voice.

Maybe Tony wasn't wrong, maybe he didn't have to be so nervous...at least, not with this one.
