"How'd it go?"
"Oh you know, time of my life." I slink back into the seat offering a sarcastic reply, eyes flickering over to a young Leo glued onto the tv screen. I bob my head her way, looking back to David next to me. "How's Leo doing?"
He exhales deeply crossing his arms, corners of his mouth twitching as he studies his daughter. "She's managing, keeping a brave face on."
"That she is." I nod, biting at the loose skin of my bottom lip before blowing air through my mouth. "Listen David I need a favor, critically."
"Okay yeah.. how big?" He furrows his eyebrows together, curiosity peaking in his face.
"I'd say on a scale of one to ten, eleven." I lock eyes with him, cascading my tongue over my top row of teeth.
He breaths heavily, uncrossing his arms and leaning slightly forward. "Reassuring. Indulge me."
I stand up, turning my back to the office door and clasping my hands together as David matches my stature. "There's something I have to do and it's really not up for discussion, I don't want to hear any questions or trying to talk me out of it okay?"
He purses his lips with a unsure look, rubbing a hand over his scruffy chin. "That's not very-"
I move my head level with his, re catching his drifting eyes with my desperate ones. "Please David."
He lingers on with our eye contact, contemplating visibly on the inside whether or not to help me. David runs a hand over his whole face exasperatedly, before letting it drop with a shrug of his shoulders. "Okay."
I smile at him out of gratitude, blinking tightly with a single head nod before brushing stray hairs from my face. "I need you to tell me what Frank's planning."
"Alexa I promised him-"
"You remember the day you first reached out to me? What the first thing you told me was?" The day runs back in my head like it was just yesterday. Reminiscing every detail from how the sun was shining, to which outfit I wore as I walked through the slums of New York when David, AKA Micro called me. "I'll be there as long as you're here. Well I'm here David I've been all in for your family. Now I need to look out for me, and I need your help." I lower my voice to a temped whisper, pursing my lips before exhaling shortly. "I can't lose him too."
Davids eyes flicker between mine, entrenched with sympathy as he nods in understanding. "What do you need?"
I squeeze his upper arm as sign of appreciation, clenching my teeth and nodding as I let my hand drop once again. "Hell far be it from me to ask you to break a promise, so I'm gonna need Dinahs swipe-card. I have to get out of here."
He scoffs slightly, glancing around rapidly as he shifts body weight from either legs. "And how do you expect me to get that?"
"All I need from you is a distraction, I'm doing the heavy lifting." I glance the surroundings warily, pressing both lips together anxiously. "And by that, I mean swiping the card from her belt when she's not looking."
David furrows his eyebrows together, already skeptical and probably regretting his compliance. "How exactly do I cause a distraction that big?"
