Jungkook watched with sharp eyes as Taehyung ran to him from across the park, red hair flying, feet clomping in those big sandals, arms windmilling about. He looked ridiculous, and Jungkook found himself smiling fondly.
"Sorry I'm late!" Taehyung repeated as he approached Jungkook, bending down and placing his hands on his knees to catch his breath. "I just woke up."
"But it's 12:30," Jungkook said, standing up from the bench.
"I know," Taehyung replied. He raised his eyebrows at Jungkook's surprised expression. "What? Who doesn't sleep in on Saturdays?"
"I mean, everyone. But not that late."
"You're telling me you've never slept in till 12:30 in the afternoon?"
"The latest I've slept in is till 10:30 in the morning."
"Poo, you're no fun."
A small giggle slipped from Jungkook's lips, and he watched as it hovered in the air between them, painting his cheek's a rosy red that contrasted with his black hoodie.
"Pretty," Taehyung breathed out. Before Jungkook could open his mouth to say anything, Taehyung lurched forward and grabbed his hand. "Anyway! Let's go get breakfast, I'm hungry."
All words retreated to the back of Jungkook's throat as Taehyung's warm palm enclosed around his own.
An angel was touching him.
He let himself be dragged through the park and into the busy street beyond, and he didn't even have to use his cane because Taehyung was guiding him through the crowd with a strong grip on his hand. He felt safe.
