Narrators POV

"Fuck! Clementine stay awake!"

James was holding Clementine bridal style. His breath was rapid, and his chest was rising faster then the world was falling apart.

He ran through the woods, dodging tree after tree with a limp girl in his strong arms.

The walker heard was falling behind him, slowly becoming more faint the more metres he ran.

He saw the group and yelled at them to follow him. He led them over a small bridge of water, over a huge log, and behind a rock to find the very same base Clementine and AJ had been at when James saved them previously.

He put his walker skin covered fingers to his lips, signalling for them to be quiet, and put down Clementine gently.

The corn from last time still hung there, half eaten and wet from the recent rain.

Violet crouched down beside her girlfriend and caressed her beautiful and tan face. She felt her jawline, her eyebrows, her nose then her lips. Her eyes became glossy and she gulped down the lump in her throat.

Louis came up from behind her and hugged her gently, rocking her back and forth as the group sat there in silence, guilt ridden on all of their faces. They knew if Clementine ran more she would run out of strength. Of hope. They needed to rest.

James worked on Clementine's leg fast. Cleaning, bandaging, everything he could to save the teenagers life. He had to admit he felt a connection with Clem. Not a romantic connection, but more of a special sort of friendship. He never really had friends throughout his entire life and when he talked to Clementine he just seemed to click with her.

Louis looked over at James and studied him. He still had his walker skin on as he worked fast on Clementine. He blushed when James looked over at him, catching him staring at his body.

When James was done he looked at the defeated groups faces.

"She's going to be okay. I know that place was your home, but now a walker herd has claimed it as their own. Don't worry, you guys can stay here for a while if you like. I know that there's another abandoned school somehow up the highway."

James' voice was soft and rough, and Louis smiled giddily like a child. His stomach slightly stirred with something. Something he never felt even when he had a crush on Clementine for that short time period.

AJ went over to Clementine and began to sob into her jacket. He was clinging onto her with the inch of hope still left in him.

"Please wake up Clem. We need you now more than anything."

Violet heard the boys voice crack with heartbreak, and immediately picked him up into a hug.

"It's gunna be okay kiddo. Shhh it's okay. She's okay. Just wait a little."

AJ flung his arms and legs around Violet's waist, resting his head in the crook of her neck, feeling at home in Violet's embrace. Her and Clem were the only people that made him feel safe. They were mother-like, and sister-like figures.

Violet smiled down at the boy, for the first time in a while her heart twinged with the feeling of family, and peace. She ran her slender fingers through his thick and wild hair, whispering to him it was going to be alright. That he was safe.

Ruby sighed loudly and rubbed her eyes tiredly. She was tired of staying in one place, but she was also tired of running from everything. Every problem they had ever had. She just wanted a home. A community of ranges of people. Young, adults and elderly. She wanted a big family again.
