The air turned agonisingly thick.
Two armed Police officers stood near the top of the hatch, and had their guns pointed at Matt, who was standing to the side of us. Us meaning Me, Gen, Kian, Darius, Fliss, Steve, and Bekka.
Matt's gun was astonishingly close to Kian's head, and I couldn't take my eyes away from the barrel of the gun. At any given moment, Matt could pull that trigger and Kian would be dead.
However, if he moved his arm just a little bit further across, that barrel would be pointing at my head.
"Sir, I respectfully ask you to drop your weapon immediately." One of the Police officers said calmly to Matt.
But when he didn't do anything, except breathe heavier, he had to take another course of action.
"NOW!" He ordered.
In an instant, Matt had Kian in a headlock and had flicked the safety of his gun off. Kian's breathing became laboured, and tears sprung to his eyes.
"Dont order me around! I am the one in control here, so don't test me!" Matt seethed.
The Police officers paled a little bit.
I couldn't help it. Tears silently began tunning down my face and dripping on to the floor. I couldn't help but think- what did we do to deserve this?
As though sensing my distress, Matt looked at me and grinned. He looked at Evan, who was standing to my left, and jerked his head towards me.
Evan grabbed a handful of my hair, and yanked me up from my place on the floor so I was standing up in front of him. I let out a squeal, and moved my hands to my hair where I clawed at his hands to try and get them off me.
My attempt was futile, but I didn't care at that moment.
Evan used his free hand to grab my wrists and pin my hands behind my back.
"Don't try anything." He whispered in my ear. I could feel his hot breath on the side of my face, and it repulsed me.
I made a face, and turned my head away from him slightly to escape his putrid breath.
"Sir, please let these young people go. We don't want to have to take lethal action." The second police officer said in a slow voice, as though talking to a child.
Matt laughed. The true laugh of a maniac. He had lost his mind, and the derranged look in his eyed told me that he was a Mafia guy drunk on power. It was such a shame really.
"Think about it this way, officer," He spat the word 'officer' like it was a bad taste in his mouth, "If you shoot at me, then Kian here will take the bullet. If you shoot at Evan, then little Kassy will take the bullet. And for each time you shoot, we will shoot one of these kids. So to put it simply- you can't win." Matt grinned. It was revolting.
He was in control and he knew it.
"Now. You two put your weapons on the floor." Evan said, some of his breath still managing to hit the side of my face.
The two Police officers put their guns on the floor and slid them to the middle of the room- close to where the other kids were sitting.
It was like a lightbulb in my head.
If Kian and I could distract Matt and Evan for long enough, then the other guys could get the guns.
But there was no way of conveying that message to Kian, or the others. I would just have to hope that they all caught on.
There was an agonising silence.
"Good. Now we're gonna wait until you back down." Matt said.
"Well then I'm sorry, Sir, but you're going to be waiting for an awfully long time." One of the Officers retorted.
◀●●●●●●●●●●▶
I waited until there was a silence.
Do I do it now? Or do I wait until they're in conversation with the Officers?
I had a battle with myself.
However, I didn't need to decide. Because someone else had decided for me.
Kian stomped on Matt's foot, and while he was doubled over, he elbowed him in the face. Matt fell to the floor.
Around now, I snapped back to reality and realised that Evan was fumbling to get his gun out of his holster. I raised a leg and kicked him where it most hurts.
He let go of me, and I stumbled forward. Gen pushed him over from behind, and punched him in the face with a force I didn't know she posessed. He became limp, and was out for the count.
Matt, however, was a whole other story.
He was fighting, and had successfully knocked out Fliss.
Bekka had gone from the corner, and was now sitting by her Father, who I had kind of forgotten about.
Matt elbowed Steve in the face, and he stumbled back from the impact. He gripped his nose, which was now pouring with blood.
The Police, meanwhile, had gotten their guns, and were now carrying Fliss down the ladder. They then made a move to Steve who resisted and wanted to help, but ended up going with them anyway with the assurance that backup was on the way.
Only Me, Gen, Darius, Kian, Bekka, and her Dad were left.
It slightly annoyed me that there were no fully trained, qualified Police officers helping us. I didn't know where they had all gone, but it annoyed me.
My thoughts were interrupted when someone's gun fired a shot.
And a body fell to the floor.
A/N- Sorry for the late update! I had major writer's block.
Who died?
And who shot them?
