A trembling voice was heard on the other side of the phone.

It both relieved and worried Lisa as she was now on her knees. "Yerim?"

"Lisa?"

"Thank goodness you're okay." Lisa breathed out. "I need you to unlock the door now, we need to get out of the building as quick as we can, I have a car outside." She kept her explanation brief, but the younger girl on the other line still sounded confused.

"W-Wait, where are you?"

"I'm at Sooyoung's, now open the door, I'm coming over."

"Okay."

And with that, the line was cut off. Lisa sighed in relief before turning back to Sooyoung who was still against the door, looking as terrified as the girl herself was earlier.

"Sooyoung," Lisa called. "We need to stand up, Yerim is going to open the door and we will get out of here."

"What if they attack us?" The raven haired female snapped her head up, eyes clearly displaying her panic. "What if there is one of them out there right now?" She implied further.

But the golden haired female shook her head softly. "We will be alright, we just need to be careful." She helped Sooyoung stand up from the ground, she furrowed her brow when feeling her unusual body warmth. "You're becoming warm, we need to find a drugstore, too."

They opened the door and Lisa picked up her axe, she saw the door to her apartment open and there stood Yerim, her short dark hair was a bit of mess and she looked restless.

"Are you ready?" Lisa whispered across the corridor, Yerim shook her head. "Then, Sooyoung, please go help Yerim, I'll be looking over to make sure everything continues to be clear." The older girl nodded, uncertain, but went to do as she was told.

The female could hear them walking quickly inside the apartment and not much time, later both girls came out. Every bag was checked before they went into the same lift that Lisa took on her way up to their floor.

A heavy silence invaded the space as soon as the door slid closed, Lisa stood in front of them and her axe was held tightly against her chest. This farce she wore — she knew it wouldn't be on for much longer. The female herself knew she could break at any moment.

But she breathed in deeply, closing her eyes briefly. I can't bear to break down now, she reminded and bit into her lower lip, I need to protect these two.

"Doors opening, ground floor." She opened her eyes and her knuckles turned white from her hold on the handle of the axe.

And much to their relief, nothing could be seen. Lisa stepped out quickly and scanned the area before looking back at the two girls.

"Let's go." And they followed behind her.

They quickly made their way behind Lisa who, the moment she stepped out of the dorm building, had her eyes on the car. She signaled them towards the grey Nissan Picasso.

The two girls made their way but Lisa was frozen in place when seeing the zombies that were not far from them. They walked ever so slowly towards them and the girl shivered, hurrying her step to help the two girls put the bags in the boot before helping them get in.

Lisa started the car and started to drive off, Yerim had turned on the already but could hear no voices coming through asides from static.

"So, signal is already off..." The youngest murmured.

The golden haired female let out a short sigh. "There's no way to contact anybody then, any places you guys suggest we could go?"

"The drugstore?" Murmured Sooyoung quietly, confusing the driver for a second before she remembered.

"Right, your medicine." She looked towards the road again.

Night was coming down fast, as much as Sooyoung needed her medicine, she would need to wait. Surely, the drugstores in the city would be full and maybe even have people killing others for medicine.

Lisa knew she had to go to a quiet place, the quietest place in the city. But where?

A distressed sigh left her, her hands tightening on the steering wheel. And it wasn't something that went by unnoticed by Yerim who looked at her with concern.

________

Three hours driving, the city was by now covered in utter darkness, not even the post lights were turned on. It scared the three girls that were by now almost out of city bounds completely.

Lisa was feeling tired, she needed a break, but she couldn't make any of the girls sitting at the back drive for her; Yerim didn't have her driver's license and Sooyoung was sick.

Just my luck, she sighed mentally. They needed to stop somewhere.

Lisa stopped by at the side of the road, everything went silent and she realised that Yerim and Sooyoung were probabaly sleeping at the back. She breathed out a sigh, leaning forward on her seat and with her head on top of her knuckles.

Think, think, think... She can't sleep, not in the middle of nowhere, where they are right open for the predator. But she needed to continue, she pressed down on the gas pedal again and when she was about to lean back to her seat, the car started to slow down.

Her brows creased and heart sped up, she tried to press down further on the pedal but to no use. The car didn't move another inch forward.

"No, no, no..." She chanted repeatedly in panic. Her hand reaching for the gear and tried to change it to various positions before going back to the one that allowed her to drive.

She raised her hands into the air, clenching then into fists as they trembled. She bit into her lower lip in frustration and held herself from slamming her hands down and hitting the steering wheel out of anger. Why is this happening now?

Her hands then fisted her hair and Lisa but back a shriek before looking back up again, to the dark road up ahead.

The female felt lost for a minute or two, looking over her shoulder to look at the two girls sitting behind her that peacefully slept. Lisa realised that she need to do something now to get them out of there.

Grabbing a hold of the axe, she opened the door and stepped out. She would let Yerim and Sooyoung sleep, they were probably too tired to wake up so soon. And with taking in deep breath, Lisa started to run.
