After almost an entire day on the road, August and Haren arrived at the edge of the city of Erebos by the time the sky started getting dark. Haren was surprised to see that the city was even more impressive than he originally thought it would be. It was what he imagined a fantasy town to be and more. The buildings were all in a similar medieval style, and there were people everywhere. Many of the people were human, but there were also some elves and even some beastmen.
"The first thing we'll need to do is buy some gear," August said." Do you have any preferences for what you'd like?"
"Hrm...well, nothing really."
"Then we should go take a look around some shops. Maybe you'll find something you like."
August and Haren jumped down off the horse, and August started leading the way down the street. After a few minutes, he stopped in front of a small building.
"I've heard this place has some good pieces. Why don't you go on ahead? I'll be back in a few minutes," August said.
"Ok." As August started walking down the street, Haren went into the shop.
It was not lit very brightly, but there was a lot of space. Weapons of all kinds were hanging from the walls, and shelves full of armor lined the space. In the back was a small counter, and a door led to another room. It was closed, so Haren didn't know where it went. A tall man wearing a black apron and simple clothing stood behind the counter.
"Hey there! Welcome. What can I do for you?" He asked.
"I'm looking for some gear," Haren said.
"Well, I've got quite a few options. Go ahead and look around. If you've got any questions just let me know," The man answered with a grin.
"Thanks." The man went back to what he was doing, and Haren walked over to the nearest shelf.
The shelf was piled with a number of sets of armor. Haren looked through them, but nothing really caught his eye. He didn't know how long he'd been looking when he heard the door open. He looked to see August walk in and over to him.
Together, the two of them looked around through the selection of armor in the shop. Eventually, Haren decided on a simple black coat enchanted with protection. By the time the two of them left the shop, it was late. They decided to wait until tomorrow to go to the guildhall, so they found an inn to stay at. Despite how late it had gotten, the two of them sat talking to each other for a while. Before they knew it, it was morning. With August leading the way, the two made their way further into town.
They stopped in front of a tall building. The large double doors were open, and they could see a large number of people inside. Haren followed August inside and over to a small desk at the far end of the room directly opposite the door. They passed a large board covered in papers on their way over to the desk.
"Hello there, welcome to Erebos guildhall. How can I help you?" A woman wearing a black outfit that closely resembled a suit smiled when Haren and August walked over. Her ash black ponytail bobbed as she looked up at them.
"We'd like to register as adventurers," August said." Can you help us?"
"Of course, sir! Will both of you be registering?" The woman asked.
"Yes." August nodded.
"Very well, sir. Then, please fill out this form. The minimum requirement is your name, so if you do not wish to give us any of the other information, that is fine. This information is only used as an identification method." The receptionist explained, handing the two boys a sheet of paper and a quill.
