The Super Filly

Chapter 3

Pablo's POV

     " Caitlyn ! " Mr. Baker yells.

     " Jack, let her be. " Mrs. Baker says.

     " Juliana, we can't let her just run off! " Mr. Baker says. I decide to bud into the conversation.

     " When are you guys going to tell her? " I say.

     " We won't. We just have to hope and pray nothing happens " Mrs. Baker says.

     Oh boy this could be bad.

Caitlyn's POV

    I run down to the pond and grab some pebbles. I start throwing them into the water. I do this for about ten minutes, and then I head back to the barn. I peak through the doorway to make sure nobody was in the stable. After I deemed the coast was clear I tiptoed over to Black Ice's stall. Duchess was on the ground stretched out awkwardly in the hay. Ice towered over her. Duchess lifted her head as high as she could towards her mom without having to get up. *Black Ice, beat up and tired, put her head down and nuzzled Duchess on the nose. Other than the cuts and marks on her you would've never imagined she was abused. 

     Something was different about Ice. She seemed like she wanted to spend every second with her foal. Did she know something we didn't ? I got an idea and ran to the house. I came back with a huge red, juicy apple. I clicked at her. She came over to me with her ears perked.

     " Here you go beautiful. " I say as I stretch out my hand to her with the apple in it. She took it gratefully and ate it. I watched her all day. 

     Around 5:30pm I went to my black and white paint Warmblood Luna's stall.

     " Hey, Luna. How are you? " I say as I open her stall door. She nickers at me. Then down the hall our Thoroughbred stallion Chipper lets out a loud neigh. I let out a little giggle. " Wanna go riding? We need to practice before tomorrow's lesson. "

     I grab her halter and lead line and lead her out of her stall. I tie her up and start to brush her. After this I grab my saddle pad and half pad and put them on her. Then I get my English Jumping Saddle and put it on her. I put the girth on the first hole on each side. Next I put Her bridle on. Before I get on her, I move each side of the girth up two holes. I lead her to the indoor arena and get on. I do ground work on her and some little exercises.

     " Easy now. " I say when Luna spooked at a stick breaking somewhere outside of the arena. Then I see Pablo come up to the arena gate. 

      " Hey senorita. How is Luna doing? " He says. Pablo always calls me senorita.

      " Good until you came along. " I say sarcastically.

     " Now don't be mean, " He says, " Well, I was just coming to check on you. Oh and senorita, you better spend a lot of time with Black Ice. "

      Spend more time with Black Ice. What was that supposed to mean.

      " Okay, Bye. " I say.

     After our little ride I take her in, Untack her, And give her a bath. While I'm feeding her, I hear the dinner bell. I start heading back towards the house, but I make sure to stop by Black Ice's stall.

     " Goodnight beautiful. Ice, I promise you'll have your life back soon. " I say and run towards the house for dinner.

     After dinner I wish everyone goodnight and head to my room. I couldn't stop thinking about what Pablo said earlier. Maybe he said that because he thinks it will help her adapt. I force myself to go to bed early because I have to get up early tomorrow.

No ones POV

     The night went on slowly for Black Ice. Her foal lay fast asleep at her feet breathing peacefully. She  touched Duchess with her nose and nickered. The foal did not move. So she went over to the corner and laid down.

Caitlyn's POV

     I wake up at 5:30 in the morning, get ready, and go downstairs to get me some breakfast.

     " Good morning. " My mom says.

     " Morning. Where is Dad? " I say.

     " He had to run to town, and he had to take Pablo with him so he didn't have time to feed the horses. Your brother and sister are in barn B and C feeding. So could you go out there and start on barn A? I'll make sure they come help when there down with barns B and C. " She says.

     " Yeah, sure! " I say and walk out side. 

     When I get to the stable I hear a horse neighing continuously, but I ignore it because its just probably a hungry horse. I start with Luna and work my way down. By the time I got to Clipper, my siblings show up.

     " Finish up the last ones for me so I can go see and feed Black Ice. " I say.

     " Got it. " Josie says. 

     I get Ice's food and head to here stall.

Josie's POV

    Casey and I finish up feeding and right when we do we here someone scream bloody murder.

    " That sounded like-"

    " Come on, Casey. " I say. We run to the other side of the stable. I look to the right and see Ice's stall wide open with a bucket of feed spilled.

     Casey and I peak around the open stall door to see Duchess bucking and kicking and my sister on her knees crying her heart out with Ice's head in her lap. She looks up at me . I just stood there, shocked.
