* 1 week before the Oaks *
My phone rang off the hook after I released the news. I decided to call Nathan to see if got the news.
" Hello? " He says.
" Hey, Nathan it's Caitlyn, and I calling you to tell you that Duchess is officially in the Oaks.
" Okay, I already new this. " Nathan was be rude so I decided to counter attack.
" Just watch your back. Duchess is training like she's about run the boys down in the Derby. " He chuckles slightly when I say this.
" I'm sorry Miss, but Emily is a stalker when she races, she'll be watching your filly. " I laugh at this.
" Well, then I'll see you on the Oaks day. "
" As too you miss. " He says goodbye and hangs up the phone. There's no telling what he thought of that phone call.
I get up and go downstairs. The clock read 11:30am. Good I got enogh sleep after a late flight in last night.
" Good morning, Sis. I've got the post pisitions. " Josie says.
" Really! Let me see. " She hands me the sheet, and I read:
1. Super Savvy
2. Tontalist's Princess
3. Unapologetic
4. California's Debbie
5. Scandalous
6. Red Hot Untapable
7. Emily The First
8. War Light
9. Accusation
10. Duchess Of Winter
11. The Rose Petal
12. Tapit's Sky
13. Sound and Light
" Okay, well, Emily The First has post 7, and Duchess has post 10. Shoot! "
" What is it, Cait? "
" Accusation is next to Duchess, and she is a horrible starter. At least The Rose Petal is on the other side and she is a good starter. I need to meet with Rosie 'cause I have an idea. "
" Well, she'll be here tomorrow. "
" Good. "
* The next day *
" Morning Rosie. " I say when I pick her up at the airport at 8:45 am.
" Morning. "
" Let's get home so we can talk about the Oaks. "
We drive home, and when we get there we go inside and sit at the dining room table.
" Here are the post positions. " I say and hand her the post positions She studies it for a second.
" Well, that's interesting. " She says.
" I was thinking. Since Accusation is horrible starter, but The Rose Petal is a beautiful starter, when you come out of the gate, I think you should push Duchess the right so she won't be bumped or not bumped as bad. You know what I'm saying. Like don't bump The Rose Petal, just push her over. " Rosie just nods her head.
" I think we shouldn't do that. Just hope she can get ahead of Accusation fast. "
" Okay, let's start working with her on getting out of the gate fast. "
" Sounds like a plan. "
