“Doctor! Can we go now? You said yourself that the Tardis scan showed that it wasn’t dangerous!” Rose Tyler groaned stepping out of a big blue box that had just materialized beside the crashed rock.

“It did say that yes but why did it land here? The rock didn’t hurtle straight towards Earth accidentally, it headed for Earth purposefully, and there must have been a reason why!” The Doctor said excitedly, stepping out of the Tardis just behind her with a boyish grin on his face.

“Why do we need to worry? This isn’t even our time zone.” Rose said, walking towards the rock with slight caution.

“Exactly! Today is the 15th of July 1988, no big historical event is going to happen in Ealing anytime soon, so why would it land here?” The Doctor said, more to himself than to his companion. The Doctor crouched down on his honkers beside the giant rock and pushed his glasses onto his face and took out his sonic screwdriver.

“Where are you from?” He whispered to the rock as he scanned it with the screwdriver. He was fascinated by the crash and was so engrossed in looking at the rock that he didn’t notice that there was anyone else there until Rose said,

“Sarah Jane!” The Doctor’s head snapped up and he looked towards where Rose’s voice had come from.

“How do you know my name?” He heard the voice of Sarah Jane Smith reply. The Doctor stood up and a huge smile stretched across his face once again. There stood his old companion. One of the women he had trusted the most in the whole universe, and he still did.

“Rose she doesn’t know you yet.” The Doctor shouted over to her, though he was certain Rose had already remembered this due to the fact that a Sarah Jane 18 years younger than the one Rose had met recently was staring at her through confused eyes.

“Who are you?” Sarah Jane demanded, but then sudden realization spread over her face as her gaze fell upon the Tardis.

“Doctor! It’s you!” Sarah Jane cried happily, a radiant smile taking over her face.

“It’s me Sarah.” The Doctor said, his grin growing wider. Sarah Jane threw herself into The Doctor’s arms and he hugged her tight. He really did miss Sarah Jane, even after all these years.

“K9!” The Doctor said excitedly, as he released Sarah Jane and spotted the robot dog. Even though it had only been a short while since he had last seen him he was still as excited as a little boy on Christmas morning.

“Master.” K9 said, wagging his metal tail enthusiastically.

“You look so young!” Sarah Jane said, grabbing The Doctor’s attention again as she stared at his wrinkleless face in amazement.

“So do you.” The Doctor said; Sarah Jane scoffed at this.

“It has been many years Doctor.” She said, a little sadly.

“I know, I’m sorry I didn’t come back for you Sarah. But you have this incredible life, you are getting on happily without me, and I didn’t want to ruin that.” The Doctor said.

“You wouldn’t have…AGH!” Sarah Jane suddenly screamed doubling over in gut wrenching pain.

“Sarah!” The Doctor shouted, alarmed, gripping her elbow in an attempt to support her. Sarah Jane’s head snapped up, her face showed no signs of pain any more but there was an unusual look in her eyes that The Doctor didn’t understand.

“Are you ok?” The Doctor asked her worriedly.

“Yes.” She said a little breathlessly.

“Ok. I’m just going to have a quick look at this rock one more time.” The Doctor said, still eyeing Sarah Jane suspiciously. Sarah Jane’s gaze tracked The Doctor as he walked away from her. He walked over to the far side of the rock and bent down once again, but this time he could still see Sarah Jane and Rose.
