The Doctor couldn’t stop staring at his daughter. She was his. She really was his little girl.

“Would you like to stay for dinner John?” Sarah Jane asked him happily. It felt so weird to have Sarah calling him John. She was his best friend, and now she didn’t even know him.

“Thank you very much for the offer but I really must get going, I just thought I’d drop in while I was passing, and give Victoria this.” The Doctor reached into one of the oversized pockets of his trench coat and pulled out a small dark blue box, the same shade of blue as the Tardis, though if Sarah realized this she didn’t let it show on her face. The Doctor handed the box to Sarah who lifted the lid carefully.

“Oh John, it is beautiful!” Sarah exclaimed, lifting the little silver bracelet off the cushion.

“I thought it would be a nice gift, lots of babies have these baby bracelets don’t they?” The Doctor asked her.

“Yes they do. This is a wonderful gift John, thank you.” Sarah Jane said, slipping it onto Victoria’s tiny wrist.

“Well I really must be going.” The Doctor said in his usual happy voice, but his eyes showed that he really didn’t want to leave her. Sarah Jane held out her arms for The Doctor to place Victoria in them.

“Would it be ok if I put her in her carrycot?” The Doctor asked. It must have seemed like a very strange request to Sarah Jane but she said that it was fine and pointed him towards the kitchen.

The Doctor carried Victoria into the kitchen, he was being unbelievably careful as he was terrified of dropping her. He laid her gently in the carrycot and she fell asleep instantly. He stood there staring at Victoria for a moment before he was interrupted.

“Master!” He heard K9 say. He spun round to see K9’s robotic head poking out of a door near the back of the kitchen.

“Shush!” The Doctor hissed and K9 quickly retreated back into the cupboard.

“I love you Victoria.” The Doctor whispered to his daughter, his only reply was a small moan as she slept.

The Doctor walked back out into the hall where Sarah Jane was waiting for him.

“Thank you so much for this John, and feel free to come round, whenever you want. You will always be very welcome here.” Sarah Jane said.

“Thank you Sarah, I might take you up on that offer.” The Doctor said.

“I hope you do.” Sarah Jane opened the door for John.

“Thank you Sarah.” The Doctor said, and he wrapped his arms around her once again. Sarah Jane wasn’t sure what he was thanking her for but she went along with it anyway. As the Doctor walked out of Sarah Jane’s house he stopped for a second and looked towards the kitchen, Sarah Jane didn’t see the small tear that ran down his cheek.

As soon as Sarah Jane closed the door behind him The Doctor started running. He didn’t have far to go as he had only parked the Tardis round the corner.

“Is it working?” The Doctor asked as soon as he ran inside. Rose was waiting for him, standing at the screen.

“Yes. Look you can see her location on screen.” Rose said, swiveling it round into The Doctor’s line of sight.

“Perfect.” The Doctor said, staring at the screen, which clearly stated that Victoria was at number 13 Bannerman Road.

“So what exactly does that bracelet do?” Rose asked.

“It shows Victoria’s location, her health, and when her heart rate increases it turns into a voice recorder, it will relay her voice so that it comes out of the sonic screwdriver.” The Doctor said, bouncing around the Tardis, flicking switches as he spoke.

“Her name’s Victoria?” Rose asked, as if this was the only thing she had picked up on.

“Yeah, Sarah made a good choice.” The Doctor said. A little smile spread across his face as he thought about his daughter and Sarah, he couldn’t help it.
