Finally, I got my own place. Well, technically my parents are paying for it till I finish college, but still. It's just my roommate, Kaylee, and I on the twentieth floor of Kassel Condos.
Kaylee is my best friend in the whole world. I call her Barbie, which is ironic because Kaylee is allergic to all things beauty product. We opened the door to our new condo...
"Whoa! This place is huge!" I hollered at excitement.
"How the heck did your parents even afford this?" Kaylee asked.
"Probably because we're rich? Haha," I bragged.
"Hey. Stop bragging and start unpacking,"
"Yeah, yeah. Good thing my parents dropped off our stuff yesterday,"I mentioned.
"Yeah," She said. Then she opened my box and lifted a picture out, "Remember this?"
I immediately snatched the photo back. It was a photo that I should've thrown away but I just can't. The picture was of me and a boy who I should forget but can't.
"Shut up, Barbie."
"I told you not to call me that," She said a little annoyed.
I just shrugged and continued unpacking. When we finished unpacking, it was already dark outside. We decided to just get a pizza delivered.
"So, you excited? We're finally going to college!" I sang.
"I guess I am, but not much. It's just another stage of school," She explained.
"It's more than that! It's like the pinnacle of-" I didn't even get to finish because the buzzer sounded.
If a visitor wanted to visit, they would go to the lobby and ask the desk person to ring us, then we'd pick them up from the lobby.
"You think it's the pizza?" I questioned.
"Probably not. You just called like two minutes ago. Come on," She said.
She stood up and headed downstairs and I followed. We lived on the twentieth floor so it took a while. I suggested that we just take the elevator but she said we could use the exercise. When we got to the lobby, we saw Michelle and Jennifer. We all used to hang out in high school until Kaylee and I moved away.
"Hey guys! What's up?" Jen asked excitedly.
"Hey! What're you two doing here?" I asked.
"What? We can't see you now that you live in the big city?" Michelle said playfully.
"Hey, let's all go upstairs and catch up," I suggested.
We all went up the stairs to our condo. I opened the door and lead them inside.
"Holy sharks!" Michelle muttered.
We all gathered around the dining table and chatted.
"So," Jen started, "what's the name of this school you're going to?"
"Kassel Academy for the gifted," Kaylee answered.
"It's really more of a university but it's still called an academy," I added.
"But, do you know any other friends who go to your school? Or is it just you two?" Jen asked.
"As far as I know, it's just us," I answered.
The buzzer rang again and I went to see who it was. Turns out it was the pizza man. I paid the man and said thanks. He was kind of cute. He had tan skin and chocolate brown hair. His fit shirt really complimented his muscles underneath.
I went upstairs to see the girls giggling as if they were talking about me.
"What's so funny?" I asked.
"Oh nothing..." Michelle said suspiciously.
I ignored it and went straight to eating pizza. It was late by the time Michelle and Jen left. Kaylee and I just went to our own rooms and went to bed, butI couldn't sleep. It was always like this whenever I sleep in some other bed. I had to get used to it for at least two days. Needless to say, I slept at a very late hour.
~~~~~
"Good morning!" Kaylee bellowed. She's so annoying sometimes.
"Please," I begged, "let me sleep some more."
"No can do lazy ass. The sun is shining. That means we have to get up!" She ordered.
Sometimes it bothers me that Kaylee is a morning person. She's probably the only morning person on this planet!
But, I caved in and got up.
"Fine, But can you please leave my room?" I said.
"Sure!" She said as she skipped out the door.
I stood up off my bed and went into the bathroom. I did my morning routine and headed for the kitchen.
"Hey, how come we have more food than cereal?" I asked.
"Oh, my parents fully stocked the kitchen. We even got bowls, pans, and all that stuff," Kaylee stated.
"Oh cool. Tell them I said thanks," I remarked.
I opened the fridge and took out the milk and chocolate syrup. I poured the milk into my mug and heated it up in the microwave. Then I took it out, put the chocolate syrup in and mixed them up.
"That's all you're going to have for breakfast?" Kaylee asked.
"Yeah, I don't feel like eating," I answered
"Oh come on. I've already told you that you are not fat. Stop thinking that you are," She said trying to convince me.
"I know that. But I'm not skinny either," I remarked.
"At least eat this," She said as she handed me a banana, "It'll make you feel better."
"Alright," I agreed.
We ate our breakfast and loaded up the dishwasher.
"So, where do you want to go?" I asked.
"The mall!" She screamed in response as she ran out the door.
"Hey, wait up!" I screamed back.
I got my wallet and brushed my hair. She's probably at the lobby by now because she's just that fast.
As the elevator door opened, there was a familiar looking person inside. He was about to step out when he stopped and went back in. He then looked at the buttons in confusion. Then he pressed the button for the nineteenth level. I guess he pressed the wrong button. I swear this person has been in my life before. I just can't put my finger on it... When the door opened he smiled and I immediately recognized his big dumb grin.
Kaylee had an impatient look to her as I arrived at the lobby.
"Come on!" She said as she pulled me into a taxi cab.
