After Kaminari and Ashido's team went— and failed, it was ready for Ayano, Jiro, and Koda's match.
"Team, Koda, Ayano, and Jiro, practical exam. Ready? Go!" An announcer exclaimed.
The three of them were in a forest arena, surrounded by nature of all sorts.
"So, if we stick to the plan, we should be able to pass." Ayano said. And I'll be able to get a solid punch in. "Knowing him, Present Mic will most likely get bored, and start screaming. You two work on stopping that, I need to focus with this."
Kneeling down, Ayano placed both hands on the ground, watching as ice spread from them in a certain radius.
All was going well until there was a loud noise from in front of them. Gritting her teeth in pain, Ayano kept on focusing on what she was doing.
"Ahg. He's so loud." Jiro grunted, holding both her hands up to her ears.
"Jiro, you can send out your heartbeat into sound waves, right?" Ayano shouted once the noise died down.
"Yeah, but what- oh! Good idea, Hyida!" Jiro said, moving one of the earphone jacks to her boot, the plug hovering just an inch our two away. It wasn't too long until Present Mic let out another scream.
Plugging in her earphone jack, Jiro canceled out the noise.
That happened a few more times, Present Mic started screaming, and Jiro would cancel out most of the oncoming noise.
Staring at the ground, Ayano saw the ice at her hands beginning to crack. "Alright, it's done." She stated, pulling her hands up and then brining them down onto the sheet of ice, the ice cracking and breaking apart, revealing a small tunnel lined with a small layer of ice. "The sound shouldn't travel as much underground, but we need to be careful not to slip. It will be dark as well, so feel your way through."
Jiro nodded, and Ayano ushered the two down the hole before going down herself, hearing the beginnings of another one of Present's Mic's screams.
"Hey Koda." Jiro said as the three walked through the tunnel. "Is it possible for you to control insects?"
"Hm, what's with that sudden question?" Ayano asked, the group stopping in the underground tunnel.
"Even if we get to the gate, Present Mic will probably still be there, so, I was thinking we should distract him somehow." Jiro explained, "Koda, if you can command bugs, then that'll work as a distraction."
Koda gave a thumbs up, but the look on his face made Ayano think of something.
"Koda, you're not scared, are you?" She asked, "Of bugs, I mean."
Koda looked at her for a second, then nodded slowly.
"Hm. Well, Jiro's right that we need a distraction... Koda, what if you didn't have to see the bugs you were commanding?" Placing her hand to the wall, Ayano activated her quirk again, a small hole about an inch wide appeared in the wall. It didn't take her much time to create what she was thinking, since it wasn't that big.
"What did you just do?" Jiro asked, looking at the hole.
"I made a series of tunnels, about the size of the tunnels in an ant hill." Ayano explained, then looked towards Koda, "Speak through this, hopefully bugs will hear you."
Koda nodded and walked to the hole, whispering through it, though he made an attempt to be loud enough so his voice would be able to reach the bugs.
"Come on little guys, listen up-" He started, then gave them all instructions on what to do. A minute or two later, he turned around and nodded, and the three of them started walking.
It wasn't long until they heard a scream from the surface, and Ayano looked forwards, seeing a dim, blue-tinted light coming from ahead. "We're almost there." She announced.
Once they got to where the hole was, Ayano punched the thin sheet of ice, waving her hand slightly since it was a bit tougher than she expected it to be. Pulling herself out, she spotted the exit gate a little far off, and a Preston Mic screaming and getting covered by bugs.
Getting on old ground, she helped Jiro and Koda out of the hole, motioning towards the gate.
Getting the message, the two nodded and the three of them ran towards the gate. Ayano spreading ice from her feet and covering Present Mic's fit, surrounding it in ice and entrapping a good amount of bugs to his foot.
It might not be a punch, but it's something. Ayano thought, knowing that the ice would take forever to melt, meaning that present Mic would have to deal with the bugs for a while.
As he was on the ground passed out, the three of them ran through the gate, passing the exam.
