Driving down to Jack's home town made the memories all crawl back into his mind. Memories of when his Sammy was still in his tummy when Mark tried to kill her. Memories of when Mark kissed him before he told him that he was moving away. Memories of Amy telling him that she was pregnant with Mark's baby and with Sammy's brother or sister. It nearly broke him when he found out, cause that was when all of Jack's hope of having Mark in his life shattered. Sammy could live with one parent, yet Jack still could help thinking how his life could be different with Mark in his life. Jack sighed as Sammy wiggled in her seat as she looked around in curiosity. Sammy had told his she had fell during recess and scraped herself but Jack refused to believe that she "just fell." Sammy  had a massive bruise around the giant scrape, meaning she must have fell pretty hard. Jack tried to push it into the back of his mind and tried to remember that Sammy went through a whole day of school without the teachers or principal calling him. There were no problems which excited him. Hopefully this could be a trend and Sammy would fall behind any more.

"Okay Sammy, you, Nilly, and Alex need to be on your best behavior. The twins are grounded so some of their privileges have been taken away. So ask Uncle Dan and Uncle Phil if you're allowed to do ANYTHING with the twins, okay?" Sammy nodded and glanced out the window. She seemed so interested in the houses with the families outside playing in a pool or the dogs barking as he played with a little boy out the window.

"Daddy? Why don't I have a mommy?" Jack froze in horror. He didn't think he would have this conversation with her at four years old. Jack wanted to wait but he knew Sammy would pester him about it. He hated to keep things from her.

"Well daddy didn't like any of the mommies," Jack tried to explain to his tiny four year old. He tried to think of the right words, she didn't quite understand what being gay was.

"Daddy love other daddy's. So me and your papa got together and had you..." Jack hoped that Sammy would just drop it but being the curious little girl she was she asked him a difficult question to answer.

"But where is papa now daddy?" Jack's heart shattered. How could he explain to Sammy that her papa didn't want her and had a family with another person?

"Well papa had to take care of his family Sammy. Papa wanted to be there for you but he and a mommy had a baby. So he couldn't be there," Jack held back his tears as he saw the disappointment in his little girls eyes.

"Oh," she turned back to look out the window but Jack had just turned on Dan and Phil's driveway. There house was simple but big enough for the entire family. It was white with brownish shingles on the roof. There were tulips planted in the front yard with white wooden fence encasing the yard. Right next to the yard was a gate leading to the large back yard with a large tree house built in a large tree. Sammy unbuckled and quickly opened the door and hopped out of the car running to the door. Jack jumped out after her as she started to pound on the door. Dan opened the door with a large smile as he looked down at Samantha.

"Ello pretty lady," Dan spoke in a heavily drastic Englishman voice. Sammy giggled as she lifted her arms, indicating that she wanted to be picked up. Dan obliged as he grabbed her by the waist and picked her up so he could kiss her on the forehead.

"How girly what have you been lifting? You're getting heavy," Dan gave Sammy a tight hug before putting her down. Dan leaned and gave me a man hug before patting my shoulder.

"It's good to see you Jack," Dan gave a faltered smile as Jack gave Dan a brisk nod.

"You too Dan," Dan stepped aside for the two to come inside. Sammy instantly ran off to find the twins while Jack and Dan caught up. Phil was outside playing with the twin on their new tramp and Sammy was just outside laughing and giggling. Dan told Jack how he had gotten a job at a Domestic Violence facility in Los Angeles and he loved being there. Dan describes the feeling of standing in court in front of the judge defending a client from their perpetrator. He seemed enthralled with his new job, but Dan turned cold as he looked down at his hands.
