Tieyan POV
I smile at Breeze. She tilts her head and nudges my arm. King Nolan gifts us saddles; mine is silver, Sumya's is purple.
I giggle quietly, and Sumya glances at me, her look saying, 'what the...'. I smile innocently and look at Breeze. If dragons could laugh, I know she is.
We equip our saddles, and I immediately fall off. I wipe the dirt off of my knee with my fingertips, and mount once again.
Sumya POV
I mount Star with ease. Tieyan immediately tumbled off, to my amusement. We take off. I fling my hands in the hair.
"Woohoo!" I yell.
I look over my shoulder. Tieyan's face is pale, and she's clinging to the dragon's scales.
We soar above the clouds. I have always wondered what clouds felt like. I reach for one. It feels like thick, morning fog. The air in the sky chills my skin, so we go back down to the ground.
Tieyan lands next to me and jumps off of Breeze. She gets on her hands and knees and starts patting the ground. I give her a quizzical look, and she returns it with a glare.
Soon, she speaks.
"I've lost Grandmother's necklace," she tells me.
Beatriz POV
The fire illuminates the evening sky. I begin weaving a basket to store my excess goods. I found a few flexible branches; perfect for basket weaving.
As I finish the basket, I rub my chilled hands together in front of the fire. Quail settles next to the tree stump I am seated on. I place the meat and bread into the basket, and place it in my hut.
I decide to go hunting. Hunting at night works best for me; it gives me an advantage of camouflage.
I grab my knife and walk east of my "camp". I try not to step on any crisp, autumn leaves, but to no avail. I step on a few leaves and branches, each crack sending a chill up my spine, for I believe that one small noise could lead anything to me.
Suddenly, I hear a rustle by me. I pull my knife in front of me for protection. What I see before me, baffles me. The rustling stops, and before me, I see a unicorn. I stare at the majestic creature, unsure what to do. I need food, that much I know. But, unicorns are the rarest creatures in this land. I could get at least two hundred gold coins easily.
Before I can make up my mind, I hear another rustle in the bush behind me. I slowly turn around. My jaw drops, for what stands before me is one of the most dangerous creatures in this land.
A Chimera.
(That's a Chimera ^^^^)
Lillia POV
I sigh and lay back onto my bed. I feel my eyes grow heavy, and I fall asleep.
I awake to the sound of clicking coming from my door. I sit up and look over. There was a cube of cheese, a slice of bread, and a cup full of water on a tray that Mother had placed on the floor. I pick up the tray and place it on my nightstand.
I stare at the gray painted walls. The paint is peeling off, showing the walls' true color; a dark beige.
I walk over to my dresser, and look at the last thing Father has ever given me. A music box. A wax fairy is stood atop. I twist the handle, and the fairy starts to spin slowly, and the box plays music. I stare at it, tears threatening my eyes.
No. I think. I mustn't cry. I have to be strong. For Father's sake.
I eat the stale bread and dry cheese.
I walk over to the door. Maybe she accidentally left it unlocked. I grab the handle, and turn it.
The door opens.
I'm free!
Krystal POV
"Krystal!" I hear my name. I turn around, and see my little brother, Jasper.
"Hey Jasper!" I say.
"Look what I found!" He says, and holds out a baby... dog?
"What is that?" I ask.
"I don't know..." he says. "But it's cute!"
(That's what it looks like ^^)
"Jasper!" I say. "Just because it's cute doesn't mean you pick it up! It could be dangerous!"
"Tiva isn't dangerous!" He protests.
"You NAMED it?!" I shriek.
"Her," he says. "I named her."
I sigh. "Aunt Marie isn't going to like it."
"I'll convince her!" He says.
Just as I'm about to make a sarcastic remark, I hear someone clear their throat. I turn around; there is a man standing at the window. I rush over.
"I'm so sorry sir! It was just that my— wait... Father?"
Grace POV
"Grace! Get down here!" I hear Mother yell.
"Coming!" I respond, and quickly make my bed. I rush downstairs.
"Yes Mother?"
"It's your first day of magic! Didn't you remember?"
"Oh... yes Mother, I remembered," I lie. I do not think she ever mentioned magic. "Where is it?"
Mother sighs. "The garden. Hurry now."
I rush out the door and into the garden.
I hear the small creek, its miniature waterfall never ends.
"Are you Grace?" I jump as a hear an unfamiliar voice.
"Yes," I respond.
"Good! I'm Harper," said the girl. She wore a pink robe, and a pink witch hat.
"Wow... you like pink. You know, you are younger than I thought you would be." I say.
"I'm only fourteen, but I'm one of the best witches in the land," she tells me.
I smile slightly. "That is nice."
She returns the smile. "Shall we begin?"
"Sure."
