Red Crandall

This morning, I feel like my head's caught in a vice. I drag my feet, so much so that I will not be late for class. I rush to the dining room and, like the day before, grab a fruit before running out. I hurry to the bus stop and arrive just in time to see it pass right under my nose. Great! That's a good start!

Instead of waiting around for another twenty minutes or so on a bench. I decide to walk on campus. Once there, I rush to my first class as fast as possible, but I arrive late anyway.

I try to slip unnoticed up to my place next to Sarah. Unsuccessfully! I catch the teacher's disapproving glance. Oh shit!

"Well then, what happened to you? I waited for you this morning."

"I know, sorry, I didn't wake up."

"Did you do some wild things with your body last night?"

My heart pounds gently when I think back to my evening with Drogo. A slow smile illuminates my face. Why does thinking about it makes me feel so cheerful, all of a sudden? Maybe because I had a great time...

Sarah's still waiting for an answer. I'll avoid telling her that I chatted in my room with Drogo until way too late, side by side, on my bed...

"I just read really late."

"It must have been pretty enthralling, judging by your looks!" If only you knew...

The teacher glares at us. We wait for the end of class to resume our conversation. No need to attract more attention to ourselves.

Once class is over, we go to get some fresh air before the next lesson.

"Ateast, you didn't have to put up with English literature this morning! It's ideal for ruining someone's day!"

"It wasn't intentional, believe me!"

"I know, no need to get angry."

"Sorry, I'm a bit uptight due to lack of sleep..."

"I met Loan earlier and he talked to me about the party. He wanted to know if we were going."

"Great... You promised me that we'd not have to meet him."

"And it's still the case, they're expecting a lot of people, we'll have no trouble shaking him off."

"So you confirmed that we'd go."

"Of course, you told me it was OK, I don't see what's wrong with that..."

"Don't worry, it doesn't matter. I'm not going to hide away because of him, and if he approaches me again, he'll have me to deal with!" After attending the last class of the morning, we make our way to the cafeteria. I'm starving!

As I'm about to start eating. I see Samantha coming towards our table looking angry. All my muscles tense instinctively on her approach. Something tells me she isn't coming to wish us "bon appétit"!

"Who the hell do you think you are?"

"Hello, Samantha, nice to see you again. As you can see, I'm at the cafeteria, having lunch." She stares down at me. Her evil eyes looking at up and down.

"You turn up from nowhere and you invite yourself to our parties just like that? You're not welcome here! So go back to where you belong!" I'm dumbfounded by so much nastiness. I hardly know this girl and she already seems to really hate me.

"Well, I don't know what I did to you, but you should calm down, it's not good to be angry like that..."

"Blow me down!" She lets out a mocking laugh worthy of the queen of bitches.
