Chapter 15: Out of my way people

The next day feels endless. Minutes seem to last for hours. Even Professor Jones' course, which I usually find exciting, seems never ending. When at last he frees us, I sigh in relief. I'm one of the first students out. Even if Sarah has a hard time catching up with me. We haven't talked about what happened at her's last night, I've been avoiding the subject. She tried one or two times to introduce it but I avoided the subject each time. It make some feel so uncomfortable, not knowing whether she wants me as a friend or something else.

"Hey wait for me. You're impossible today!"

"Sorry, but I really don't have time. I have something to do."

"Yeah, right and your something wouldn't be Drogo by any chance?"

"Huh? No! Why?"

"Come on don't lie to me, it's worse than not saying anything!" I ignore her and continue to slither through the crowd of students up to the exit.

"Red... Wait! Can we talk?!" She's on my heels. Knowing Sarah, she won't give up until we talk about it. I hurry down the stairs and run into... Peter.

"Hey, where are you going like that?" I can't believe it. Are they doing it on purpose or what?!

To be safe, Drogo asked me to meet him a little further away, on the edge of campus. With these two around, it's going to be complicated!

"Nowhere! In town!"

"I bet you Drogo's behind this..." Sarah

"Stop that, will you?!"

"A date with my brother? Be discreet, if that's the case..."

"We're not stupid!"

"So, that's it!" Sarah

What pains in the neck they can be?

"Why? Do I need your permission?"

"Not at all. But stop lying!"

Me lying? What about her then? You can't say she's been very honest. I thought she was a friend and that things were clear between us!

I'm careful not to talk about it in front of Peter.

"We just want to be alone a bit!"

"I don't know where you're going, but it's almost impossible to hide anything from Nicolae in this city. If he's looking for you then he'll find you."

"Let's hope he doesn't look for us then!"

"It would be simpler for you to stop seeing each other, just until the whole thing blows over... Which won't be long." I glare at her coldly. After what happened, how can I be sure she's being objective!

"To tell the truth, I'm fed up with being treated like a kid, and so is Drogo..."

"You're forgetting that you both screwed up big time. Someone nearly died!"

"I don't need your reproaches! I feel bad enough as it is!"

"I just want to help you Red... I'm not your enemy." Peter

"I don't get what you see in him, I don't always understand your choices, but I'm your friend nevertheless." Sarah

What exactly are they doing? A best friend conquest?

"Hmm. A kind reproach, thank you Sarah."

"Crikey, you're so susceptible sometimes!" I turn away but Peter catches up with me again.

"I'll walk you for your meeting place."

"For heaven's sake, that won't be necessary! I can walk you know!"
