The first thing I noticed was that the roof was grey. Not the grey of your common rain cloud, but a dark, cold merciless sort of grey. The grey of the metal roof above me, wherever I was.
Letting out a long breath, one that came out in more of a moan, I sat up on the mattress while the lightweight, crumpled bedsheets that were covering me still somehow clung to my front.
"You're awake."
My head swung in the direction of the voice, while my hands flew out to steady my body from the sudden shift in position.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Robin said, tilting up his hands slightly and taking a few steps back.
I sighed and put a hand to my hurting forehead. "No, it's alright. I'm just a little drowsy, and confused." I confessed.
Looking around I saw that I was in a room. My room, back in the cave. The possessions of mine that Artemis and I had packed earlier had been put away on shelves, and in the drawers as well I'm guessing.
I gasped in realisation and snapped my head in Robin's direction. "Artemis, where is she? Is she okay? What happened?" I asked.
"Artemis is okay. She is in the infirmary now with a few burns and broken bones. She was okay considering you both must've fallen down a lot of stairs." He informed me. "You on the other hand, were completely fine when we all found you next to her in the lobby."
"Wait, the lobby?" I asked. "On the ground floor?"
"Yeah, why? Is something wrong?"
"No, no. It's alright." I said waving my hand. I could tell he was unconvinced, but left it alone. I would have to talk to Batman about that later though.
"You say I was completely fine?" I asked.
"Yeah, well there were a few scratches, but that's all. Nothing to serious." He replied.
Throwing off the black sheets, I swung my sore legs over the edge of the bed. I rested my heavy head head in my hands, making my hair look like a dark curtain hanging down over my face. I wished somehow that curtain could block out the world, as well as all the raging emotions tearing through my mind at present.
"It's all my fault." I said quietly.
I felt the mattress dip down slightly next to me. It didn't wake me from my frozen position though, I still was like a statue.
"Shadow, it wasn't your fault." Robin assured me.
He was wrong, but I wasn't going to argue with him. He didn't know my backstory just the same as I didn't know his. And like him, I'm guessing, I neither wanted to share that information. I couldn't blame him though, he was just trying to comfort me. But he just didn't understand.
Robin sighed. "I have to go and tell Batman you're awake. I'll see you later."
With that he stood up to leave the room. Out of the corner of my eye I could see him pause at the door and turn back to look at me, but then continue out.
Laying back down on the bed I realised just how comfortable this mattress actually was. I had never had a proper bed before. Although, Zoella had told me that one day, we would buy a penthouse that overlooked all of Gotham city. There, we would live out the rest of our lives with each other in happiness.
I wonder what she would have thought about all of this? I guess I'll never know...

First Author' note. Yay!
First of all I would like to thank each and every one of you who have been reading this book, even commenting and voting. It really does mean a lot to me and you have no idea how much I appreciate it. Although, if you have anything at all that you want me to write better, or word differently, or anything that you think would make this story better, please don't be afraid to let me know! I really do value your criticism because it's shows me what I need to work on.
I would also like to point out that the start of this story is probably around a month after the first season ended. I won't be putting in a lot characters or any plot lines that will connect with the second season, because I didn't enjoy it as I did the first.
Sorry that I'm not that good at updating either. It just takes a while plan out how I want the chapter to be.
I have netball tryouts at school tomorrow so wish me luck!
Who likes the new cover?
Again, thanks for reading and please continue to do so.
P.S- Who do you think pulled Shadow out of the fire in the apartment?
