Chapter 11.

Steve's POV:

Maddie fell asleep in my arms I wasn't very tired so I continued to work on my wedding vows for her. A couple hours passed and I put them down and when I went to turn off my reading light Maddie started shaking and crying. She finally woke up crying in my arms I kept kissing the top of her head and rubbing her back to let her know she was safe. Maddie got off me and pulled out her phone she called a number I didn't recognize.

Maddie: "May I speak to Noah?"

Person on phone: "He's not here."

Maddie: "Where the hell is he then?"

Person on phone: "Mam your brother passed away tonight. There was a robbery in the apartments and he was shot and killed instantly."

Maddie hung up the phone got out of bed and got dressed.

Me: "Honey where are you going?"

Maddie: "He lives in San Diego or lived. I gotta go see him."

Me: "Honey please come back to bed."

Maddie: "Steve I love you but I have to go see him."

Me: "I'll call Theo to watch Maggie I'm coming with you I'm not letting you drive while you are like this."

Maddie: "Fine."

Theo arrived and slept on the couch Maddie and I got into the car and drove to San Diego.

Me: "I love you."

I put one hand on hers and the other hand on the wheel.

Maddie: "I love you too steve very much."

She kissed my hand and held it. We arrived at the apartments and Maddie ran out of the car. An officer came up to her and she told him everything he took her to Noah's body bag and she looked at cried and turned away into my chest crying I hugged her. She went up to him and held his hand.

Maddie: "I love you Noah. I'm sorry we lost touch. I hope you're watching over me. I wish you could've walked me down the isle at my wedding like we've planned for years but I know you are in a better place."

The officer took the body away and we got back into the car. I looked at Maddie.

Me: "Let's just stay at nice hotel tonight we can get room service for breakfast tomorrow. We both need a break but especially you. If not we'll go home."

Maddie kisses my cheek.

Maddie: "Let's stay at a hotel I'm about to fall asleep."

I found the nicest hotel money can buy and we check in. I carry Maddie to the room bridal style and put her on the bed.

Maddie: "Hey we aren't married yet."

She let out a small laugh.

Me: "I know princess I just didn't want you to walk."

I got on the bed and Maddie played with my hair and kissed my forehead.

Maddie: "I love you so much Steven Crain. I don't know where I'd be without you and you just make life so beautiful and worth living."

Me: "I love you too. Get some rest love."

Maddie fell asleep in my arms again. And I grabbed my vows and finally finished them. Once I finished then I finally headed to sleep but before I did I took one more look at Maddie and fell asleep. She is so beautiful.
