The Daughter Of Steven Crain

Chapter 3.

Steve's POV:
I woke up at 3am and kind of just sat there awake. I texted Maddie on that dating app.

Me: Are you awake?
Maddie: Yeah I'm awake. What's up?
Me: My daughter Maggie couldn't sleep and I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep.
Maddie: You have a daughter?
Me: Yeah I adopted her.
Maddie: That's amazing I've always wanted to be a foster mom.
Me: Where would you like to go Friday?
Maddie: Cheesecake Factory?
Me: Perfect I love it there!
Maddie: Me too. I'll let you go get back to things.
Me: Alright talk to you later ❤️

I put my phone down and start getting ready for the day I make coffee and check my emails you know the normal adult routine. Theo called me and I answered.

Me: "Hi Theo."

Theo: "I'll be there soon. It's just me alone. My wife and I are fighting. I'll be able to watch Maggie Friday for your date."

Me: "Thanks Theo see you soon."

Theo: "Yep love you."

Me: "Love you too."

I went into my room and woke up Maggie I made her eggo waffles while she got ready. She came in the kitchen and ate the waffles and Theo came in through the front door.

Theo: "Hi Maggie I'm your aunt Theo."

Maggie: "Hi I'm Maggie."

Theo: "I'm gonna help you decorate your room. What color do you want it?"

Maggie: "Lavender please. That's my favorite shade of purple."

Theo: "You got it. Steve you go buy the paint at Home Depot I got painters coming to do it for you. We'll go to rooms to go and target."

Me: "Thanks Theo."

Theo: "No problem."

Maggie's POV:
Dad left to go to Home Depot for the paint. And Theo and I headed out.

Theo: "So kid tell me about yourself."

Me: "I love writing stories and I love reading dads stories. Have you read it yet?"

Theo: "Yeah I finally did a month ago. It was pretty good."

Me: "Are you mad at dad for writing it?"

Theo: "No I never was it was always Shirley."

Me: "Is she mad?"

Theo: "Who knows with her. Anything else about you?"

Me: "I set dad up on a dating app."

Theo: "He told me I've been trying to get him to do that for years."

Me: "Ha well he finally did it. He found a match her name is Maddie."

Theo: "Thats wonderful. You excited to start at a new school?"

Me: "Yeah I guess."

We got out of the car and headed in rooms to go. We spent a long time in there but we didn't have to go to target because we got everything we needed there. We put everything in the car and headed home.

Me: "Dad says you have powers."

Theo: "Sort Of."

Me: "I don't want you to touch me."

Theo: "Why?"

Me: "Bad things happened to me before I ended up in the orphanage where dad got me."

Theo: "You know I'll find out either way."

I held out my hand allowing her to touch it. Theo touched my hand and had tears in her eyes.

Theo: "I'm sorry."

Me: "It's ok. I'll tell dad when I'm ready."

She nodded her head and we headed inside the house.

Steve: "These painters are great Thanks Theo."

Theo: "Of course I already paid them. Consider it a adoption day present Maggie. See you Friday."

Me: "Thanks Aunt Theo see you later."

Aunt Theo left and the painters and workers kept working on my room.

Steve: "Your room won't be ready for a few days so you can sleep with me or in the living room."

Me: "I'll sleep with you dad just Incase I have nightmares again."
