“Hey!”
Lilly had just reached the edge of the forest before she heard the only voice beside her own and Mary’s. She turned to see a familiar face coming towards her. It was Angel. Lilly smiled, she had someone to talk to now other than her aunt, maybe even answer some questions.
“Hi” Smiled Angel. “Do you remember me?” She asked
“Of course!” Said Lilly “You saved my life”
“I’m so glad you are okay! You look great!” A silence fell over them since Lillian could think of a way to reply. Oh no. She thought. This is going to get awkward fast, but despite her worries, Angel smiled again. “I’ve been wondering for a while now. I never got your name, you were too weak to walk on your own let alone talk” Lilly giggled.
“Lilly Krome” She said. Angel smiled again. She had a beautifully gentle smile.
“That’s a gorgeous name!” She exclaimed. “Hey. My friends and I are going to ATV, would you like to come?” She pointed behind her; there was a parked tractor which had four smaller ATV’s attached. Beside them were a boy and girl about her age, fifteen.
“Of course!” Lilly said. “I need to take my mind off a few things anyway” She smiled as she and Angel headed towards them. Angel quickly washed away all worries Lilly had before they even reached the ATV’s, where she was greeted like an old friend by Sky and Jay
“We were there when Angel brought you back from the forest, and whoa we were surprise! I’d seen some of your posters. I wanted to go back to look for your family, but Angel said you were the only one there.” Said Jay as Angel put her helmet on.
“You can ride with me the first lap” Said Angel “Then you can use our spare” Lilly strapped on the helmet. “Hop on” Angel said with a smile.
Revving the engine, Angel sped through the trees. Lilly was amazed at the speed she navigated through the trees, swerving at the last second to avoid a crash. She felt that Sky and Jay were around her, and she occasionally saw a quick sliver of them, but they weaved in and out, going as quickly as Angel.
“I’ve been doing this ever since I was young” Yelled Angel over the engines roar.
“Awesome” Yelled back Lilly. Suddenly the were in the air, flying, Lillian screamed and clinged to angels back. They hit the creek with a big splash, and Angel killed the engine. She took off her helmet
“I thought you’d might be wondering” She said standing up “This is where I found you” Pointing to the ground. There was an odd shape moulded in the clay, for she had dragged her weak body through the wet clay into the creek.
“I… I remember this” said Lillian, amazed. She walked over and traced it with hands. “I drank from this creek” She thought. “Ew” The water seemed amazingly dirty. Angel laughed.
Lilly ran her hand through her hair for one of the first times. She felt patches missing in the back, hidden by hair overtop.
“Where exactly did you find me?” Asked Lilly, spinning to face Angel.
“You were collapsed against that tree” she replied. Lilly spun again, and walked up to the tree. Then she started to walk in the way the clay mould of her feet pointed. In the path she decided she must have come from.
“Lilly?”
But she wasn’t going to stop.
