I woke up to my mom knocking on my door. The bright sun was already peeking in through my window. It was usually dark outside when I got up for school which could only mean ONE thing... I was uber late.

"Wake up, Danielle. And unlock your damn door." My mom said. Her voice was still cheery even as she cursed at me. I sat up in bed and tried to remember what made me even lock my door last night. I was about to get up and open the door for my mom when I looked down at my once white sheets stained with red. Tears flowed as I remember what made this stain.

I quickly took off my white sheets and threw it in the hamper, my moms knocks getting rougher and rougher as she probably heard me moving around.

"Danielle, please. Open up. You don't have to go to school if you don't want to, just please open up." Her voice broke as she called out to me.

"I'm sorry, mom. Hold on, can you make me some breakfast please. I'm soo hungry. I'll get ready and go to school, okay mom." I yelled out anything to make her happy. I had to cover up my arm so she wouldn't suspect anything.

"What would you like sweetie?" her voice suddenly cheery again. I rolled my eyes, "Anything. Everything you make is delicious, mom."

I could almost hear her smile and start heading down to the kitchen. I ran into the bathroom and found some bandage wrap and placed it on the counter. I quickly stripped and jumped into my shower, turning on the cold water. I let the freezing water hit my body and I let myself adjust to it before I stuck out my arm and let the water run all over it. The water quickly made the red disappear and only left behind a mark.

I washed the rest of my body and got out, drying myself. I picked out some blue, ripped, skinny jeans and my favorite Hollister hoddie.

I went back into the bathroom and did my makeup. Just a little eyeliner and mascara. I left my naturally straight hair, down.

I pushed my left hoodie sleeve up and looked at the scars. I fought back tears as I wrapped the bandage all around. I took a piece of tape and closed it, then pulled my sleeve back down. I grabbed my backpack and hurried downstairs to see my mom finishing what looked like a feast.

"Mom, this isn't all necessary. I would have fine with just some eggs or something." I said, picking up a piece of toast.

"No, you need to eat. Sit down, and eat as much as you can." She said. I stared at her, wondering what was different about her. It might have been the random pearls gracing her neck or her hair being pushed back into a bun. Maybe it was the fact that she seemed unnaturally happy. Or maybe it was the huge bags under her poorly done makeup or the red lipstick that was badly put on.

I did as I was told anyways and ate as much as I could, even though I'd probably get to school at around lunch time.

"Mom, i'm done. I'm absolutely full." I said, taking a breath. I had stuffed my face with eggs, toast, fruit, and some bacon.

She smiled at me, "I'll take you to school."

I shook my head, "Mom, it's fine. I drive, you know."

"Yeah, but who knows if you'll black out again. Thank god you had Sammy there. What would have happened if you blacked out behind the wheel. What if--"

I interrupted her, letting her win this time, "MOM! FINE!"

Just as I thought, I got to school just as my class was going to lunch. All seniors ate together, either outside in the quad or inside. We usually ate inside because of my friend Rachel's frizzy hair problem. Her words, not mine.
