Clicking sounds of fingers flying atop a keyboard was the only source of noise in Jungkook's small, cosy apartment. Being the procrastinator he is, he pushed aside an essay until the night before it was due. It was typical of Jungkook to do so, but he still mentally cursed himself as he stared at his computer screen, void of any ideas on how to continue his paper.
It wasn't like Jungkook had much to do tonight anyway, which he was grateful for. However, all the little kids in his neighborhood had a very busy and exciting night ahead of them. Children filled the streets outside, laughing and running from house to house to gather as much candy as their hearts desired. Teenagers went to all of the haunted houses and Halloween parties around town with their friends until late into the night. But Jungkook knew he was too old for all of that.
Plus, he had that stupid essay to finish.
Jungkook's thoughts wandered from his essay to every night he enjoyed Halloween with his best friend, from skipping along as toddlers to going out in crappy costumes as teenagers just for the sugar. Memories flooded through is mind; all of the pranks and scares they had planned out together, all of the silly constumes they worked hard on, each night they stuffed themselves with candy, everything.
It was a shame Jimin was dead.
Jungkook still could not comprehend how something so bad could happen to someone so good. It was absolutely heartbreaking to lose his best friend, one of the only people he trusted with his whole being.
But, he learned to accept the fact that Jimin was gone, because what else could he do? Pondering on his death would not do any good, and he knew that. Still, every part of him longed to spent just one more day with him. One more day were he could enjoy going to a haunted house with Jimin, just like they did before. One more day were he could scare Jimin just to hear his laugh at the end. As much as he wished for it, he knew it would never happen.
Three sharp knocks on Jungkook's door snapped him from his thoughts. Sighing, the ravenette stood up from his chair and pushed his hair back a couple of times while trudging to the front door. Jungkook figured it was probably a couple of kids on the other side who eagerly came to his small apartment for candy, it being Halloween and all.
Jungkook pulled open the door, ready to explain to the children that he was "extremely sorry" for not having any candy. But instead of hearing the high-pitched, synchronized phrase from a bunch of little kids, Jungkook met a pair of ghostly white eyes that seemed to stare right into his soul, pulling out his deepest and darkest secrets.
Eyes that he would never forget.
It-- it couldn't be. How was this possible?
"Jimin hyung?"
A smirk slowly etched itself upon a pale, seemingly perfect face void of any life. There was not a singly trace of emotion seen on the figure standing only a few heartbeats away from him. As he started to speak in a low voice that dripped with underlying venom, shivers shot down Jungkook's spine.
"Missed me, Jungkook?"
