Jungkook didn't know how he got into the position he was in.
Jimin's face was mere millimeters from his. They were so close-- Jungkook could feel Jimin's soft breath on his lips. They searched each other's eyes, completely in the moment. There was nothing to disturb them in the quiet hotel room.
That is, until Jungkook broke the silence. "I--" He sucked in some air and closed his lips. His eyes flitted down to Jimin's parted lips and back up to meet Jimin's gaze. "Can I-- Can I kiss you?"
Jimin, who was looking at Jungkooks lips himself, brought his eyes back to Jungkook's own. "Please do," he whispered a moment later, his breath fanning Jungkook's mouth.
As soon as their lips met, the hesitation, the uncertainty, everything, fleeted. He forgot that they both had to go to a group dinner in an hour. He forgot that they had a concert tomorrow. He forgot that they were the biggest idols in the entire industry.
He couldn't think of anything except for the seemingly glowing boy in front of him. Everything felt unreal.
Jungkooks hands found their way to Jimin's waist, and Jimin wove his hands around Jungkooks neck; both trying to pull the other closer.
Their lips danced together.
Slowly pulling apart, Jungkook rested his forehead softly on Jimin's, their hair slightly tangling together.
After moments of comfortable silence, Jimin met Jungkook's gaze. "Jungkook..." he breathed.
Jungkook already knew what the older boy was going to say. He was going to say it soon anyways; it was a topic they couldn't ignore. "I know hyung... We shouldn't be doing this."
Jimin sighed and closed his eyes. Hearing Jungkook say that brought him back from the bliss he was submerged in just moments earlier.
All of the possible consequences of their actions came crashing back to him. This world was unfair and unreasonable, but it was still reality. No matter what was wrong or right, good or bad, things would not change. People's opinions would not change.
"We can find a way," Jimin said, trying hard to convince himself. He just wanted to believe that it would be okay, but it clearly wasn't working. "We'll find a way."
"Hyung--" Jungkook wanted to believe him so badly. But he knew he couldn't.
Why couldn't things work in their favor?
