"Carly! Shanna! Hurry up!" Chris shouted up the stairs.

Kathy and Lisa were sitting on the couch along with Scotty and Andie who were waiting for the two other women to get ready so they could go to the beach.

"Max and Riley come here," Andie pulled the two boys over and rubbed sunscreen on them before telling Chris to come over as well.

"I don't need sunscreen," He rolled his eyes.

"Yes you do! You'll burn so just come here," She told him.

Chris rolled his eyes but walked over and she scoot back onto the couch and spread her legs so he could sit in between them. She started working the sunscreen into his back with her slender hands and Chris couldn't help but succumb to the nice feeling but it was cut short.

"Okay we're ready!" Shanna announced once they came down and the group headed down to the beach.

Leading the way to the beach was Andie who had Max and Riley on either side of her holding her hands. She was giggling at some animated story the boys were telling her and the rest of the group was behind her but Chris and his mom were at the very back and Lisa noticed Chris watching Andie.

"She's going to make a great mother one day," Lisa told her son.

So many times in the past when Lisa would make a comment like that, her son would just roll his eyes or groan but this time he didn't even pry his eyes away from Andie while he answered, "Yes she will."

When the group made it down to the water, all of them made a beeline for the water. Max climbed up on Chris' shoulders while they all swam around and played in the water. After a while, Carly sat on the beach and made sand castles with the boys and Lisa and Kathy headed back to the house to start making lunch.

"WE NEED HELP WITH OUR SAND CASTLE!" The kids called out to their aunts and uncles as well as Andie, making them all chuckle as they started swimming toward the shore.

Andie was farther out than the rest of them so she was still in the water when they all reached the beach and headed toward the nephews. It wasn't until they heard a yelp that they all turned around to see Andie in the water, grasping her leg.

"Andie, you okay?" Shanna called out.

"Y-yeah," She pushed out.

Chris knew it wasn't true and that something was wrong. He sprinted back to the water and waded in to where she was.

"I caught my knee on the rocks," She gritted her teeth.

"C'mon, let's get you to the beach," Chris pulled her in the water until they got to the sand.

When they got there, Andie moved her hand and he saw the gash on her knee. It wouldn't need stitches but it still was deep and was bleeding. Andie tried to get up but Chris wouldn't let her.

"I can walk just help me up," She put her hand out.
Chris didn't reply and ignored her hand, instead he hooked one under her knees and the other around her back and held her tightly against his firm chest. She wrapped her arms around his neck while he carried her to the house.

"Oh honey! What happened?" Kathy gasped, seeing her daughter with blood running down her leg.

"I'm fine," Andie smiled while Chris sat her down in a chair before hurrying out of the room. "I just scraped my knee on a rock in the water."

"That looks deep Andie. Let me go get the first aid kit," Lisa started to get up as Chris was walking back in.

He hurried over and first wrapped a towel around her small frame to keep her warm before getting on his knees and opening the kit. Andie reached down to grab the bottle of hydrogen peroxide to pour on her cut but Chris took it from her.

"Just let me take care of you for once okay?" Chris chuckled, giving her a smile that made her heart flutter.

He carefully cleaned her wound and let her squeeze one of his hands while the peroxide stung. Chris then put a bandage over the top and made sure it was secure before getting her some advil and a glass of water.

"I'm going to have to take a nap now," She giggled.

"Oh yeah I forgot pain killers make you tired," Chris nodded. "I'll go grab you some clothes to change into then you can take a nap."

He hurried out of the room along with Lisa who insisted that she needed to help him get her clothes because he wouldn't know where it was and would make a mess of her duffel bag. Once they left, Andie got up to refill her water and looked at her mother.

"Chris always fusses so much over little things like this," Andie laughed.

"It's because he cares about you Andie and he's a caring person," Kathy told her daughter. "He takes good care of you... he always has."

The conversation was shut down when Lisa and Chris came back in with some clothes for Andie. She slipped into the bathroom and changed but the minute she walked out, Chris was there to scoop her up effortlessly again and carried her to the couch to lay her down.

Lisa and Kathy, being the caring mothers that they were of course had to come in and fuss over Andie for a minute before she convinced them she was totally fine and they both went back out to the beach to join the rest of the family. Chris grabbed a blanket and draped it over Andie and got a pillow for her head, making sure she was totally comfortable.

"I'm putting your phone right here so you can call me if you need anything at all okay?" Chris set the phone down on the coffee table.

"Chris!" Andie laughed. "It's just a cut on my knee, it isn't a big deal."

"It's a deep cut!" He battled.

"Go ya' meatball!" She kept on laughing while pointing to the door. "I'm perfectly fine, just want a nap."

"But if you need-" Chris started but was cut off.

Andie grabbed a pillow and hit him with it while saying, "GO!"

"Okay okay don't beat me up," He laughed while heading toward the door.

Even though he went to be with his family, his thoughts kept drifting back to Andie. After an hour or so, he silently slipped away from the group and made his way back to the house and quietly walked inside to check on Andie.

When he stepped into the living room he heard snoring but it wasn't coming from Andie. It was coming from his bulldog. East was curled up on top of Andie and her arms were wrapped around him tightly while she slept. He had never met a woman who loved East the way Andie did. She always would sneak him food and let him sleep on her bed when she watched him and if there was a certain way to Chris' heart, it was to love his dog.

As he leaned against the doorframe and watched his friend sleep soundlessly, he couldn't help but feel a warmth in his chest. He had known for a while that he had feelings for Andie but it was never a big thing. But right now, seeing her hair in a tangled pile around her face, her mouth hanging open, and cuddling tightly onto his drooling snoring dog, he knew that his mother was right all along and Andie was the one for him.
