runaway bride

She smoothed out the light bumps on the table cloth. As she ran her hand over the soft fabric something felt off. The day was coming together beautifully, her dress was gorgeous, the food was going to be amazing, and everything was put together by her wedding planner Marlene. Except something was missing, she went over her mental checklist racking her brain for something that she'd forgotten. Nothing came to mind.

"Liza?" Her wedding planner's voice called to her. She turned around and there Marlene stood. "What are you doing out here, why are you helping set up. You do know you only have four hours right? Get dressed!" She told her.

"Yeah, sorry. I just wanted to lend a hand."

"Well thank you, but there are plenty of other hands that can help, not yours. So please go get ready, you are getting married after all."

Getting married, why was everyone taking it so seriously? Its just a wedding. That thought scared her, why did she not really care it was her big day? It haunted her. Other people prepare for their wedding, they spend thousands of dollars on just a giant party, that seemed to extreme to Liza but maybe that was just the introvert in her.

As she walked to her dressing room, her thoughts were clouded by the fact that the pit in the bottom of her stomach, that annoying, sinking feeling, wasn't going away.

The door opened to reveal her beautiful, expensive dress hanging up on a door but something else caught her eye.. a vase of flowers and a note attached.

They were roses, her favorite.

the note read:

"Hey Liza, I hope your big day is coming together! Knowing you it will be nothing but perfection. So sorry that I couldn't come, thank you so much for the invite but as you know I am stuck in final stage production of the show. I bet you'll look beautiful tonight, and I am so happy for you! I wish you the best.

  Yours truly, David Dobrik

That sinking pit in her stomach was replaced by something else, regret.

She regretted getting engaged to a man she didn't truly love.

Now that was a hard pill to swallow.

Liza wasn't the slightest bit mad that she was thinking about him, and as much as she hated to admit it he still had a piece of her heart. She didn't want to take it back, and that scared her. Truth is that no matter how much pain they felt, no matter the heartbreak, or the distance shoved between them, nothing compares to what they shared. She wasn't over him, and that was the empty feeling she carried with her through everything, it was the fact that he was the only one who could fill that hole. To Liza that hole was left by him. The hole was the piece of the deepest part of her she gave to him, and never wanted back.

and she couldn't fill it with any amount of money, success, or love from her fiance, that was his space and his space only.

The worst part of all of this was that she knew what was coming next, she needed to go, she needed to leave the life she was living behind, to go after him. This wasn't just some cold feet before her wedding, this was thoughts she forcefully drained out of her head for years, but they held their ground. Liza believed that she really owed it to that love sick 19 year old girl, fresh from Texas, who fell for the soft brown eyed boy with the camera.

Making her jump out of her thoughts was her bridesmaids coming in through the door. They all found a seat, when Kristen picked up the note and read it.

"Are you kidding me? Who the fuck does he think he is? That is so not cool, what kind of ex boyfriend sends you flowers, roses of all kinds, to you on your wedding day? Not to mention the flirty note, god I could kill him." She huffed out. Silence fell over the room. "I know what he does to you, after all these years that kid still can't leave you alone." Kristen continued on but Liza just tuned her out. She focused on the feeling in her heart, that feeling was telling her to get the fuck out.

"Guys I gotta go to my car, I have to make sure I didn't leave anything in there because I just want to be sure. Don't worry, I'm sure he was just trying to be nice. Besides he didn't even cross my mind and I would like to keep it that way. So just drop it." Liza told the girls as she swiftly left the room, and made her way to her car.

She opened the door and sat inside, sighing to herself about what she had done. Liza had left with no explanation, no signs, no word, just silence. She was honestly trying to care, considering the only thought in her head was about David.

The drive was long as the wedding location was a few hours outside of LA.

She was so sure. It was to the point where she wondered why this was so easy. It was one of the fastest decisions she had ever made, especially coming from Liza.

David had stopped doing YouTube a while ago, the group or former "vlog squad" was still in tact but everyone was more focused on themselves. He had moved to a quiet home after getting sick of his lonely one. David worked on shows, and directed, edited, and even made appearances in a few episodes. Right now he was it the late stages of his biggest special yet, late night style. Liza couldn't be more proud of him.

As she pulled into his driveway, and walked to the door her nerves were making it hard to maintain a steady, calm, appearance. She couldn't help but laugh at herself as she was like Rachel in the first episode of friends, going to find her Ross, just without the wedding gown. Although Liza hoped that they would skip the fighting, and the on again off again parts of Ross and Rachel's relationship, and go right to the lobster part.

Her finger touched the doorbell, and the ringing was quiet.

The door opened, and instead of the tall, lanky, feminine legged, shaggy haired, brown eyed, beautiful boy she was looking for, a small woman stood in the door frame

"Hey, can I help you with anything?" She asked.

"Oh sorry, no I must have the wrong house." Liza said about to turn around when the woman stopped her.

"Well maybe not, who are you looking for?"

"David Dobrik." Liza told her. The woman smiled at the sound of his name, and as she looked down Liza noticed something. A very important ring, on one very important finger.

Maybe their just friends hanging out, maybe she is a colleague.

  "Babe?"

Babe.

David emerged from the corner and smiled, but then it faded in a weird way when her saw her.

With out saying a word she turned around and ran to her car. She drove away so fast, tears freely streaming down her face. Liza had put everything on the line for him, for them, for their future. The thought never occurred to her that maybe he wasn't single.

Now with no where to go, no one to see, and no places to be, she drove and cried.

She was now a runaway bride.
