*Monday*
Her annoying alarm clock rang and she reached accross her bed to turn it off. She decided to wake up and get to school earlier than usual because she has a lot of projects to do.
Lorry was in her usual daily routine, waking up, eating breakfast, taking a bath, brushing her teeth and putting on the first one she sees inside her wardrobe. Today, a black denim jeans, and a blue crop top with her favorite black sneakers will do.
She waved goodbye to her aunt and walked on her way to the school. She was thinking again. Thinking over everything. She was worried about what will Steph going to do next.
What if she saw Lorry and Charles on the greenfields the other day?
C'mon Lorry! Why do you seem so afraid of her? After all, Charles is in your side, so there's nothing to worry about. She thought at herself.
She reached their school and attended her classes. She haven't talked to Charles today due to their different classes and time schedules. There was the time when she unexpectedly bumped into Steph in the hallway. She said sorry but Steph pushed her away too hard. And mumbled 'slut'. Again, she didn't say anything.
Other people are beginning to notice the tension between them. Lorry was acting as if its nothing to her but deep inside, every word that leave Steph's mouth when she's talking to her affects her.
Is that really what I look like? A slut? Or did Steph just made that up to get on my nerves? Are the people going to believe her and take her side?
Steph went to her group of friends. Her heels clicked while she was walking and that was the second most annoying sound you could hear. The first one is when she speaks, with that fake accent. She thinks the people don't notice it's fake. She started chatting and with her friends and again, that annoying sound is heared through the ends of the hall.
When Lorry passed beside them, they started mumbling something to each other then look at her then laugh. But to Lorry, she just shrugged it off.
Whatever they're thinking, I don't care. Think what they wanna think.
.......
Her classes ended peacefully and she joined her group of friends whice are walking outside of the building. They too have different classes and time schedules that's why it hard to keep up with each other anymore. Sometimes when Lorry's classes are finished, the others aren't and vise versa. Ofcourse, they have a lot of stuff to do even outside the school so it's hard to be updated to each other. The only thing they have in common is the journalism.
"Hey!" Lorry greeted.
They jumped in surprise."Uhh.. hey." They greeted back. It was only the four of them since Ron is nowhere to be found again.
They seem to be talking about something before Lorry arrived because she can see their lips moving. But they stopped talking when they saw her. And Lorry noticed this.
"Did I miss anything?" She asked.
They looked into each other. Neem, Dan and Kristyle said "No" at the same time when Ericah said "Yes". The three of them gave her a glare.
"Ooops" Ericah said. "Well, I gotta go home early. I have to feed my brother. Bye!" She walked away too fast without even letting one of them to speak.
They all rolled their eyes. They knew very well she doesn't have a brother and she is an only child.
So that leaves on the four of them.
"Spill" Lorry said.
"Well, we don't want to lie to you Lorry, that's why in this very moment we're going to tell you the truth. I know that you have been a very honest and nice friend to us since these past few years that we've known each other and I think the only way to repay you is to be honest and nice to you too. And we clearly know that you hate liars so we are not going to lie to you. I remember the time when-" Neem was cut off by Lorry.
"Just get to the point!"
"Okay! Okay!" She raised both of her hands in defeat." Dan, you explain." She motioned for Danica to continue.
"Well..." Dan trailed. It seems like she doesn't know where to start.
"I'll count to five and if you don't spill, I'll leave you guys here and I'll be upset." Then Lorry started counting. "One....."
"Two....."
"Wait, are we going to say it after you count to five or before?" Neem piped.
Lorry just rolled her eyes for like the tenth time this day. "Three....."
"Four....." And the three of them just stood there. Not knowing how to say what they have to say.
"Four and a half....."
"Four and one-fourth...."
"Four and one-eighth...."
"Fi-" Then it was Dan's turn to cut Lorry off.
"Wesawcharlesandstephyesterdayatthecoffeeshopanditwasjustthetwoofthem" Neem rambled too fast.
"What?"
"I said, we saw Charles and Steph at the coffee shop yesterday and it was just the two of them. They were laughing, and chit-chatting about God knows what." Neem said. This time, more clear.
Lorry was surprised.
Those two were hanging out?
"Oh.." was all she could say. She looked down at her converse. Then looked straight back up to Neem with a worried expression. "So?" Again, you could tell she was faking it. Trying to show others that she doesn't care, but in her mind, it broke her heart.
Maybe it wasn't Charles after all. Maybe they are just mistaken about the wrong guy.
"Are you sure it was really him that you saw?" Lorry asked.
"Positive. Yesterday, we decided to take a break from our project and head out for some coffee. Since that coffee shop is the nearest, we stopped by and headed inside. While taking our orders, I saw Steph talking to some guy at the far end table. At first, I didn't recognize him because his back was facing me. But then when he stood up to get more tissues, I saw that it was Charles. He was surprised when he saw us too that he even forgot to get the tissues. His face became pale for a second, an he turned away to another direction. After that small encounter, the two of them went straightly to the exit and left."
"Oh... okay." Lorry munbled.
Why did he suddenly leave when he saw my friends? Is he hiding something that he doesn't want us to know? To think that he knew that Neem, Dan and Kristyle are my friends and he knew that if they saw him with Steph, they're going to tell me immediately. Is that it?
Dan sighed beside her, and pat her shoulder. "Don't worry, maybe they're just 'talking'." She emphasized the last word.
Talking?! About what?! And of all the other people who he could talk to, he chose Steph? That girl? Is there something between them that I didn't know?
"Yeah..." Lorry forced a smile. Which came out as a fake one. "Okay... well, I have to go. I have to study for the exam tomorrow. Bye."
Then she just left. She just left like that.
