MISHIKA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is almost a week since I was back from Bangkok. It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I am still working on the same project. I hear my phone ringing. A wide smile crept on my face when I see the name flashing. It is Divya, one of my girls from the ladies' gang.
"Divya Arora where have you been a girl" I ask as I pick up the phone. I met Divya when I was in college and after that, she became one of my closest friends. The last time when I met Divya was at her wedding.
"Guess what babes," she asked and I could sense the tincture of excitement in her voice.
"Tell me that you are in India," I said almost biting my lower lip.
"Yes! You are absolutely correct Mish... I am in India and I want to meet you "
"Definitely! I am, Divya, so where should I meet you?"
"Let's meet at the same place babes...umm around in an hour or so"
"Ok Great, I'll be there within an hour," I say and hang up.
I started dressing and within twenty minutes I was ready. I picked up my cell phone and left for cafe Silver BeachWhile driving my way to the cafe I was thinking about Divya. At first, I had not liked her as she was completely opposite of what I was but then when we were in the same batch we started gelling up and ended up being the best buddies. She inherited a bit of me and I was a bit like her. Immediately after completing her graduation she married Mark. I can't still believe that a girl like her can marry someone like Mark. Mark Anderson was an Anglo Indian and lived in London. Guess what? They had met online on a dating app and after a few meets they fell for each other and within six months they were married. Is that how love happens? In such a short period of time?
When I reach Silver Beach, I find Divya already waiting there for me. She looked quite annoyed when I saw her. I stepped to her and she was already complaining.
"Where were you, babes? I was trying and trying and trying and why didn't you reply even once"
I check my phone there were three missed calls and fourteen WhatsApp messages, ten of them were from Divya.
"I'm really sorry I didn't hear the calls and I was driving Divya and as usual the huge traffic" I explain and sat in front of her.
"I have so much to tell you, Mish...It's been so long" she sighed and finally hugged me.
We settled in our space. The waiter came to ask our order, we placed the orders and then it was Divya and only Divya. She started with how her new place, her family was and everything else, even her honeymoon. How Mark had gifted a pup on her birthday and they had named him 'Rodger' etc etc. Though I had been in touch with her since then but work never allowed us to unload so much.
I was the one who was listening. The waiter came in with our orders and as I was sipping my cold coffee and listening to her my eyes fell on a face. The person was known to me and it didn't take time for me to understand that it was Karv Vardhan who was sitting on another table which was a bit away from me.
I cursed my fate. Why did I have to see his face at the weekend as well? Although I was listening to Divya my eyes were constantly stuck to him. There was another lady with him and he had held her hands and kissed one of them after them.
