KARV

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mishika was gazing at me as if she had seen some alien. I just can't understand this woman. It was yesterday when she was so much mad at me as if she would barge into my home to kill me and now she was gazing at me as if someone had cast some spell on her. Crazy Woman!

"Mishika, in my office with the presentation, in ten minutes" I call her and she smiled.

"Okay Mr. Vardhan I'm coming"

"Could you please be a little less formal Mishika, it's really odd and I feel too old to hear Mr.Vardhan. I think Karv will be fine" I ask and she nods back. I smile and got into my office nodding in disbelief.

When Mishika entered my office I ask her to brief me on the meeting. She explained the pros and cons of the deal. She even explained the minute details of the presentation. She discussed the worries and concerns regarding the contract we were going to sign. I ask her a few questions in between and she was good at answering all of them.

"I'm impressed" I comment and she looked at me as if I had said something improper. "I mean impressed, you've done a good job at such a short notice" I explain and she smiles thanking me.

It was a long day, the meeting went well. The management of the company we were dealing with was quite impressed with what we had to offer them. Mishika was pretty much efficient she had really shown the caliber of being at the position she was, also she was experienced and it all reflected in the confidence she displayed during the meeting.

It was late evening when the meeting summed up. At the closing of the meeting my eyes went on Mishika, she was holding her head. She looked quite exhausted, and it was quite obvious that she was tired. I knew that I was at fault as it was me who had informed her late regarding the meeting, also during the short break that we had, she had been working on a few more details. She hadn't had a single morsel during the entire day. Somehow I was feeling guilty to put her in such a situation. I decided that I would make up for it anyhow. When all others got up to leave and also Mishika picked her stuff I walked to her.

"Mishika" I call her and she turns to me.

"Yes, Mr. Var...I mean Karv" she said politely.

"Do you stay all alone in Mumbai?" I ask and she peered at me.

"Wh-What?" she asks to astound.

"Answer me, do you stay alone?" I repeat.

"Yes, I do stay alone," she replies consciously.

"Great! So there must be no one else waiting for you at the dinner" I ask.

"Umm...Yes," she replies casually.

"So would you mind joining me for dinner?" I ask and she looked at me astonished. She didn't say anything but nod in reply.

"Great! get your stuff and meet me at the parking in ten minutes" I tell her leaving the conference room.

A while later, I find myself waiting for her, in the car in the parking area. A few minutes later, she came outside with her office bag and I opened the front door for her. She quietly sat inside and locked the seat belt around her.

"Sorry I kept you waiting actually Aarush" but when I hear Aarush's name I cut her mid-sentence

"Did you tell him that I-" but even I was cut mid-sentence

"Don't worry I didn't tell him that you asked me out" slipped off her tongue and I looked at her astounding "I mean...for the dinner...Let's go" she said to avoid the awkwardness.
