Valencia Vicory
Michael and I immediately got into our pajamas once we got home from our interview, even though it was only two in the afternoon. “Thank gosh!” I sighed, sinking onto the couch, surrounded by Stella and Herman.
“I vote we live in these for the rest of our lives.” Michael laughed.
“You may be able to, I however start teaching tomorrow.” I teased, getting excited about the fact that I would be helping Tabitha prepare some of my old competitors for their shot at going to worlds.
“I’m glad that you got that opportunity. It’ll be good for you.” Michael said, smiling over at me, pushing Herman over so he could wrap his arm around me.
“Would you ever let me get a cat?” I asked slyly.
“Does it have to be a cat?” Michael groaned.
“Honestly, if you’d let me get a sheltie I’d be good with that too.” I said smiling up at him, pecking him quickly on the lips.
“Really? You’d settle for another dog?” Michael asked, surprised that I would so easily cave on my quest for getting a cat.
“As much as I love cats, I have to admit dogs are so much easier to love. They’re never moody, they just love you all the time.” I answered smiling at him. “But I get to name her this time!”
“So you’ve already decided that we’re getting a girl?” Michael laughed.
“I’ll be happy with what I can get, honestly. I want a rescue. I want to help a poor little baby our.” I said, smiling up at him before kissing him passionately on the lips.
The next day, I left Michael to lounge around the house and drove to the dance studio for my first day as a coach.
“Tabitha!” I squealed, tackling my old coach.
“Happy to see you too, V.” Tabitha laughed, catching my hug.
Glancing around I saw several girls staring at me strangely. I couldn’t blame them. I knew how hard I had worked when I was in their position and how little time I left to joking around. How little time I had given myself to be a kid.
“I’m Valencia Vicory! I’m here to help Tabitha train you to become champions.” I said, smiling over at the four girls who gathered around me.
“What would you know about being a champion?” a blonde haired girl said snidely.
“I am the current world champion. As well as an Olympic athlete.” I said, trying to keep myself from snapping at the girl who had the nerve to judge me right off the bat. Tabitha saw that I had some steam to burn off and let me be in charge through most of the practice. I wiped my face off with a towel before dragging myself back home.
I had finally won all of the girls over, glad that I had another chance to live in the dance world, but to live it from afar and not be in the center of it.
