Bighit has released an official statement from Bts' Baby on the Thai LGBTQ+ drama she is taking apart in:
'This is Y/n, also known as Baby. Earlier on in the week I revealed that I would be playing the lead in a drama, where I would have a female love interest. I took a risk. A big risk. I turned away from my company and chose what my heart wants.
My heart wants to change the opinion of the many people in this world that disagree with the lgbtq+ community. I myself admire and look up to the confident and brave people that aren't afraid to be who they are.
Through this I have lost many things. I lost a chance to sign a contract with my company. Lost trust with many people. I have lost fans, friends and people who I think of as family.
I have lost the respect and trust from my country. However, even if it means I have to speak and act in Thai just to get my point across, I accept that.
I will be taking a hiatus from Bangtan, and will be staying in Thailand to do interviews, tv shows and promotions for 'Short Tempered'.
