PROLOGUE: A RESTROPECTIVE
October 15th 3060
It only took a moment for the world to turn upside down. It only took a moment for everyone to be deceived. It only took a moment for everyone to act as if nothing had happened. It only took a moment for the world to find a common enemy.
Aliens.
The look of, the sound of, the smell of, the taste of and the texture of. These are all questions we can officially determine with our empirical nature. But the question is what about the things in the world that can’t be determined with an empirical essence. David Hume (secular philosopher) argued that there was nothing more than the physical world we experience with our senses. An example of what is real with this belief would be an apple. We cannot imagine an apple without imagining one or more of its properties. Today a question no longer asked or dared to ask would be what about the things that need a sixth sense. The things in life that we can’t demonstrate to be existent with the powers to taste, to touch, to see, to hear or to smell. What procedure do we carry out then? The people of today dismiss the persistent thoughts and carry on with life. Otherwise known as Atheists, the agonistic or in some cases the sceptic. However before people used to be overwhelmed by this new realm of life they’d discovered, they didn’t stop there. They’d prosper to follow the example of their leader/ god. Or in a Buddhists case way of life or principles. They are often called, adherents, believers or devotees. In other words, unknown to the world of today. They’re Alien to the world of today.
Alien- you are either alien or normal. To be of this world or to be in this world. There’s a difference, which one will you choose?
Maybe one day I will live to regret being alien. Or I might thank myself in the future. A future that depends on society that is predominantly normal, ordinary. And more to the point. Anti alien. Aliens who are constantly at risk, crying, shouting, loving, hating, killing, saving. But I guess that’s the kind of life that comes with being different.
Being alien...

Blue. That’s what I was. Blue. In other words I was depressed. But who wouldn’t be if they were in my situation.
I lay there on my hospital bed. Waiting for my doctor’s feedback. Remembering the shrivelled up memories from my past. But I dare not think about them, for the scars, bruises and cuts only trigger the haunting memories of the one’s I lost. The one’s I loved. The one’s I hated...
The surgeon came to introduce himself. I suppose that was to put me at my ease before my lung surgery, but all I could think of is what he'd look like in a mask and gown as he cut my chest open. I wondered if he'd feel remorse if I died on the table, or if that was all in a days work for him. His words washed over me like a bucket of cold sick and I felt nauseous to the pit of my stomach. Then with a smile that was supposed to reassure me he asked if I had any questions. I supposed that 'Is there any way to avoid surgery?' had already been answered countless times, so I shook my head.
I had been diagnosed with lung cancer a few years back. It was a stage 4 Thyroid cancer with metastasis forming in my lungs. Sure there is a cure. The thing is I did not have enough money. Just when I thought my life couldn’t be any worse. I was in an accident. The bleak scar that rests on my neck forces me to remember the dark memory... I was on my way home back from a local coffee bistro. The reckless driver swerved from right to left, overtaking many vehicles. The black Jeep flipped high in the air. Flames burst from the engine almost immediately. ...there was an enormous explosion. It was as though a fist of orange flame had decided to punch its way out of the main complex. Windows shattered. Smoke and fire rushed out. Thousands of pieces of glass and steel, a deadly rainfall, showered down. Alarms - shrill and deafening- erupted. A huge bite had been taken out of the vehicle. Killing my driver, Thomas Himmel. I snap out of the austere memory and pay attention to my doctor.
